FAIRMONT 21, BEA 5

BLUE EARTH – The Fairmont Cardinals cruised by the Blue Earth Area Buccaneers 21-5 in a Big South Conference baseball game Tuesday night.

Leading the Cardinals was Josh Soelter, who went 2 for 4 with four RBIs, while Joseph Hackett went 2 for 4 with three RBIs. Brayden Williamson went 1 for 3 with three RBIs, while Merritt Pomerenke went 2 for 5 with two RBIs. Luke Haefner went 1 for 4 with two RBIs, while Joseph Crissinger went 1 for 2 with two RBIs.

Now 2-1, the Cardinals head to Redwood Valley for a 4 p.m. game on Thursday.

GIRLS GOLF

Fairmont girls take 3rd in St. Peter

ST. PETER – The Fairmont Cardinals girls golf team finished third, shooting a combined 416 in a meet at Shoreland Country Club Tuesday night Byron ultimately won the meet with a score of 384.

Katherine Zelaya led the Cardinals, who placed 10th overall with a score of 102, while Carly Gustafson shot a 103 for 11th place. Leslie Zarling placed 12th after shooting a 104, while Joslyn Meyer shot a 107 to take 14th.

The Cardinals’ next meet is at 2 p.m. at New Ulm Country Club on Thursday.
