Cardinals take second at Mankato East Triangular

MANKATO – The Fairmont Cardinals finished in second place at the Mankato East Triangular Thursday.
Jeremiah Lebbi of Fairmont finished first in the boys 100-meter dash with a time of 11.61.
Fairmont’s Kennedy Becker took third in the girls 100 with a time of 13.59.
In the boys 200-meter Fairmonts Seth Siebring finished third with a time of 25.32.
Harper Artz took first in the girls 200 with a time of 27.61.
In the boys 400-meters Jaydon Putney finished second running a 57.02.
Harper Artz took first in the girls 400 running a 1:01.94, while Madi Thompson took third with a time of 1:10.05.
Carter Hanson finished second in the boys 800 with a time of 2:10.38, while Brier Lenort took third running a 2:10.46.
In the girls 800 Macy Hanson took first, running a 2:23.77.
Devin Hanson finished second in the boys 1,600 with a time of 5:06.29.
In the girls 1,600 Makenzie Gerhardt finished third running a 6:12.18.
Cooper Gudahl finished third in the boys 3,200 with a time of 11:21.46.
Kendra Blomster finished second in the girls 3,200 with a time of 14:43.05.
In the girls 100-meter hurdles, Cadence Leiding finished first with a time of 17.21, while Bella Schroeder finished third with a 17.91.
In the boys 300-meter hurdles Dakota Wiley finished second with a time of 44.02, while Jaron Schutz finished third with a time of 45.53.
The team of Nathaliah Johnson, Emelia Klanderud, Mollie Leiding, and Harper Artz took first in the girls 4×200 relay with a time of 1:51.75.
Fairmont’s Jordan Thompson, Jaydon Putney, Carter Hanson and Brier Lenort took first in the boys 4×800 with a time of 8:35.37.
Oliver Tordsen finished second in the boys shot put with a throw of 51 feet, 6.5 inches.
Ellie Ortega took first in the girls shot put with a throw of 35 feet, 5.25 inches, while Kennedy Becker took third with a 32-foot, 2.75-inch throw.
Oliver Tordsen took first in the discus with a throw of 162 feet, 2 inches.
Ellie Ortega finished second with a throw of 87 feet, 7-inch throw.
In the boys high jump Tytan Tumbleson took first by clearing 6 feet, while Cooper Gudahl finished third after clearing 5 feet.
In the girls high jump, Jadyn Montgomery cleared 4 feet, 6 inches, while Emelia Kladerud took second, clearing 4 feet, 6 inches.
In the boys pole vault, Jase Meade took second clearing 11 feet.
Ellie Perkins took second in the girls pole vault, clearing 10 feet.
In the boys long jump Tytan Tumbleson took first jumping 20 feet, 0.75 inches.
In the girls long jump Meredith Nemmers took third jumping 13 feet, 7.5 inches.
Jadyn Montgomery took second in the girls triple jump, clearing 30 feet, 6 inches.
Fairmont’s next meet is Monday when the Cardinals host Blue Earth at 4:30 p.m.
PREP BASEBALL
FAIRMONT 10, ST. JAMES 5
FAIRMONT – The Fairmont Cardinals clinched their home opener victory over St. James 10-5 Friday in a Big South Conference baseball game.
Leading the Cardinals was Jensen Livesay who went 2 for 4 with three RBIs, while Josh Soelter went 2 for 4 with two RBIs. Brayden Williamson, Luke Haefner and Merritt Pomerenke all had an RBI each.
Pitcher Noah Heckman claimed the win.
Fairmont will host Esko for a 5:30 p.m. game on Friday.
GIRLS GOLF
Fairmont takes second at Worthington meet
WORTHINGTON — Fairmont placed second out of 10 teams during a girls golf meet on Friday at Worthington, scoring a 424 as a team.
Murray County Central won the meet with a score of 416, while Worthington placed third with a 425.
Katherine Zelaya led the Cardinals by shooting two pars and a birdie for a 99, good for sixth place. Leslie Zarling placed seventh, making two pars for a 109.
