Fairmont track and field has record-setting meet

MANKATO – On Saturday, the Fairmont Cardinals track and field team had a solid outing in the Mankato State University Varsity Showcase which consisted of 40 teams. The Cardinals boys finished 16th, while the girls team took 13th.

The teams also broke five indoor school records.

Jeremiah Lebbi finished 10th in the boys 60-meter dash, running a 7.2 and setting a Fairmont record for the event.

Harper Artz set a Fairmont record in the girls 400-meter dash, posting a time of 1:02.51 in her ninth-place finish.

Macy Hanson ran 5:02.9 in the 1,600-meter race, setting a school record and securing a first-place finish.

Ellie Perkins finished third in the pole vault, clearing 10 feet, 3 inches and setting a Fairmont record.

The team of Elijah Johnson, Caleb Johnson, Jeremiah Lebbi, and Nolan Schultze set a school record in the boys 4×200 relay with a time of 1:38.29, which placed them in ninth place.

Nelson Remington took first in the 60-meter wheelchair dash with a time of 11.67, Remington also took first in the 200-meter with a time of 31.41. In the 400-meter area, Remington took first, with a time of 1:00.52.

In the 400-meter boys race, Jaydon Putney finished 11th with a time of 54.06.

Brier Lenort finished 16th in the 800-meter race, posting a time of 2:08.66.

The Cardinals finished third in the 4×400 relay, with Chambers, Putney, Dakota Wiley, and Nolan Schultze finishing with a time of 3:38.75.

Hank Artz of Fairmont finished sixth in the shot put with a throw of 50 feet, 6.25 inches.

Tytan Tumbleson finished ninth in the high jump, clearing 5 feet, 10 inches.

In the girls 200-meter race, Harper Artz finished 15th with a time of 27.66, while Nathaliah Johnson ran a 28.08, landing in 23rd place.

Harper Artz finished ninth in the girls 400-meter race, running a 1:02.51.

In the girls 800-meter race, Ella Wubbena secured a 15th-place finish with a time of 2:35.85, while Makenzie Gerhardt took 22nd, posting a time of 2:38.05.

Fairmont’s Cadence Leiding finished 10th in the girls 60-meter hurdles with a time of 10.53.

In the girls 4×200 meter relay, the Cardinals took 11th place with the team of Nathaliah Johnson, Kennedy Becker, Nora Fitzgerald, and Mollie Leiding running a 1:54.92.

The team of Madi Thompson, Macy Hanson, Ella Wubbena, and Harper Artz took seventh in the 4×400 with a time of 4:21.98.

In the girls shot put, Ellie Ortega took sixth with a throw of 36 feet, 9.75 inches, while Kennedy Becker took 14th with a 32-foot throw.

Emelia Klanderud took 11th in the high jump, clearing 4 feet, 8 inches.

Fairmont will host a 4 p.m. meet on Friday.
