Valley Division girls basketball honors announced

The Tomahawk-Valley Conference, All-Valley Division Girls Basketball Team has been announced.

The Martin County West Mavericks claimed two spots and an Honorable Mention, while the Granada-Huntley East Chain/Truman/Martin Luther Jaguars claimed two spots on the squad.

Hailing from MCW, senior Emily Anderson claimed a spot on the team and the Player of the Year title. Anderson ended the season with 587 points, 275 rebounds, 92 assists, 123 deflections, and 68 steals, averaging 19.6 points, 9.1 rebounds, three assists, and 2.26 steals per game.

Another player from the Mavericks, sophomore Maddie Carlson, also earned a spot on the team. Carlson ended the season with 190 points, 212 rebounds, 62 assists, 74 deflections, and 44 steals. Carlson finished the season averaging 6.3 points, seven rebounds, two assists, 4.1 deflections, and 1.5 steals per game.

MCW’s Honorable Mention was senior Avery Sanders, who finished her season with 141 points, 87 rebounds, 76 assists, and 37 steals. Setting her per-game average at 4.7 points, 2.9 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 1.2 steals.

MCW head coach Cliff Anderson was also named Valley Coach of the Year.

Jaguars junior Keira Benck locked in a spot on the team. Benck finished the season averaging 15 points, 4.3 rebounds, 3.1 steals, and 2.8 assists per game while draining 54 3-pointers.

Also from the Jaguars, junior Londyn Bowers made the squad, averaging 15 points, 7.7 rebounds, 3.8 steals, and two assists per game while adding 139 deflections.
