Area roundup: Cardinals shut down St. Clair

FAIRMONT 71, ST. CLAIR 29

ST. CLAIR – The Fairmont Cardinals put on a dominant performance against St. Clair securing a 71-29 win in a nonconference boys basketball game Tuesday night.

Leading the Cardinals was Logan Junkermeier with 21 points and nine rebounds, while Nolan Schultze had 12 points and three rebounds. Oliver Tordsen had a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds, while Trevor Maakestad had 7 points and four rebounds.

The Cardinals open the Section 3AA tournament when they host Windom in a 7 p.m. game on Friday.

CEDAR MOUNTAIN 82, GHEC/T/ML 36

TRUMAN – The Granada-Huntley East Chain/Truman/Martin Luther Jaguars fell to Cedar Mountain 82-36 Tuesday night in a nonconference boys basketball game.

Leading the Jaguars was Jackson Madsen with 14 points and seven rebounds, while Carson Hastad had 7 points and four rebounds. Bryce Borkenhagen had 5 points and five rebounds, while Griffin Studer had 4 points.

The Jaguars host Mountain Lake on Friday for the first round of the Section 2A playoffs.

BEA 77, WEM 71

BLUE EARTH – The Blue Earth Area Buccaneers defeated Waterville-Elysian-Morristown 77-71 Tuesday night in a nonconference boys basketball game.

Leading the Buccaneers was Branson Hauskins with 22 points and five rebounds, while Gage Barker had 22 points and eight rebounds. Sully Dahlberg had 13 points and five rebounds, while Will Bromeland had 9 points and four rebounds.

The Buccaneers now await seeding for the Section 2AA playoffs.
