FAIRMONT 74, BELLE PLAINE 61

BELLE PLAINE – The Fairmont Cardinals defeated Belle Plaine 74-61 Thursday night in a Big South Conference boys basketball game.

Leading the Cardinals was Logan Junkermeier with 26 points and 10 rebounds, while Hadan Toomer had 16 points and five rebounds. Oliver Tordsen had 14 points and 10 rebounds, while Joseph Hackett had 6 points and three rebounds and Joe Long had 5 points.

Now 15-9 overall and 11-8 in conference play, the Cardinals head to St. Clair for a 7:30 p.m. game on Tuesday.

MCW 69, GFW 67

SHERBURN — Martin County West defeated Gibbon-Faifax-Winthrop 69-67 in a Tomahawk-Valley Conference crossover boys basketball game on Thursday.

Kale Larson led MCW with 20 points, while Jacob Wilmes had 17 points. Kane Sharp added 12 points.

MCW (8-16) hosts New Ulm Cathedral on Saturday.

MANKATO – The Fairmont Cardinals fell to Mankato west Thursday night 14-0 in the Section 3A quarterfinals.

Goaltender Kaden Olson had 37 saves on the night.
