FAIRMONT — The Fairmont Cardinals defeated the Redwood Valley Cardinals 4-1 in a Big South Conference boys hockey game Thursday night.
Scoring for the Cardinals was Noah Meixell assisted by Klay Beemer, Gavin Kester assisted by Preston Cepress and Tyler Kurt, Kester again assisted by Dayton Draper and Meixell, and Tyler Kurt unassisted. Kaden Olson had 22 saves
The Cardinals (1-22) head to Tartan at 7 p.m.
BOYS BASKETBALL
GHEC/T/ML 74, AC-GE 63
ALDEN — The Granada-Huntley East Chain/Truman/Martin Luther Jaguars defeated Alden-Conger/Glenville-Emmons 74-63 in a Tomahawk-Valley Conference, Valley Division boys basketball game Thursday night.
Leading the Jaguars was Jackson Madsen with 20 points and 10 rebounds, while Eli Jensen had 19 points. Brody Grathwohl had 18 points and a career-high 10 rebounds while Bryce Borkenhagen had six points, 12 rebounds, and a career-high 13 assists.
The Jaguars (10-12) host Windom Area in Truman at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday

BLUE EARTH — The Blue Earth Area Buccaneers defeated the Pipestone Area Arrows 76-71 in a Big South Conference boys basketball game Thursday night.
Leading the Buccaneers was Will Bromeland with 39 points and eight rebounds, while Gage Barker had 15 points. Sully Dahlberg had 11 points.
The Buccaneers (10-13) head to Worthington at 7 p.m. Tuesday

WINDOM AREA 85, GHEC/T/ML 50
GRANADA – The Granada-Huntley East Chain/Truman/Martin Luther Jaguars fell to the Windom Area Eagles in a nonconference girls basketball game 85-50.
Leading the Jaguars was Londyn Bowers with 19 points and eight rebounds, while Madisen Lewis had eight points and four rebounds. Addison Nowicki had eight points.
The Jaguars (12-12) head to Nicollet at 12:45 p.m. Saturday

SLEEPY EYE – The Martin County West Mavericks fell to the Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s Knights 61-34 in a Tomahawk-Valley Conference crossover girls basketball game Thursday night.
Leading the Mavericks was Emily Anderson with 15 points, while Emily Schettler had eight points.
The Mavericks (21-5) head to Sleepy Eye St Mary’s at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
NORTH UNION 67, NORTHWOOD-KENSETT 16
NORTH UNION – The North Union Warriors defeated the Northwood-Kensett Vikings 67-16 in a Top of Iowa Conference girls basketball game Thursday night.
Leading the Warriors was Ainsley Ulrich with 29 points, eight rebounds, and six steals, while Shallie Walders had 10 points, four rebounds, and nine steals. Alexis Cummins had 10 points and four rebounds.
The Warriors (15-8) head to Saint Ansgar at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday.

MANKATO – Martin County Area Magic placed third in the Section 2A Championship meet Thursday night.
The top three individual all-around scorers for each team make it to state. Lillie Schultz finished fifth all-around with an 35.875, tied for eighth in the vault with an 8.95, tied for fourth on the bars with an 8.55, second on the beam with an 9.325, and eleventh in the floor exercise with an 9.05. Jadyn Montgomery took ninth all-around with an 34.2, tied for eighteenth in the vault with an 8.65, fifteenth on the bars with an 8.075, tied for nineteenth on the beam with an 8.35, and tenth in the floor exercise with an 9.125. Nola Thedens placed fifteenth all-around with an 33.275, thirteenth in the vault with an 8.8, tied for twenty-fourth on the bars with an 7.45, seventeenth on the beam with an 8.45, and tied for twentieth in the floor exercise with an 8.575.
