MAGIC 134.55, LUVERNE 129.675

FAIRMONT – The Martin County Area Magic secured the victory over Luverne 134.55-129.675 Tuesday night in a Big South Conference gymnastics meet.

Leading the Magic was Lillie Schultz with an all-around score of 35.525 to secure first place. She took second in the vault (9.275), first on the bars (8.725), first on the beam (8.275) and first in the floor exercise (9.25). Jadyn Montgomery secured third all-around with a score of 33.35, fourth in the vault (9), eighth on the bars (7.2), third on the beam (8.2), third in the floor exercise (8.95). Nola Thedens finished sixth all-around with a score of 24.95, seventh in the vault (8.825), second on the beam (8.2), and ninth in the floor exercise (7.925). Adrianna Knafla finished seventh all-around with a score of 23.75, ninth in the vault (8.475), third on the bars (7.9), and seventh on the beam (7.375).

The Magic head to Pipestone for a 6 p.m. meet on Thursday.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

MCW 50, BEA 34

TRIMONT – The Martin County West Mavericks defeated the Blue Earth Area Buccaneers 50-34 in a nonconference basketball game Tuesday night.

Leading the Mavericks was Emily Anderson with 24 points, nine rebounds, and five steals, while Courtney Anderson had 9 points and six rebounds. Emily Schettler had 8 points and nine rebounds, while Avery Sanders had 6 points and six rebounds.

The Mavericks now 19-4 host Mankato Loyola for a 3 p.m. game on Saturday.

GHEC/T/ML 69, LCWM 60

GRANADA – The Granada-Huntley East Chain/Truman/Martin Luther Jaguars edged out the Lake Crystal-Welcome Memorial in a nonconference basketball game Tuesday night.

Leading the Jaguars was Londyn Bowers with 19 points and 17 rebounds, while Keira Benck had 15 points and four rebounds. Harley Geistfeld had 13 points and four rebounds, while Addison Nowicki had 12 points.

Now 10-11 the Jaguars head to Sleepy Eye for a 7:30 p.m. game on Thursday.

NORTH UNION 64, EAGLE GROVE 25

ARMSTRONG, IA – The North Union Warriors defeated Eagle Grove 64-25 Tuesday night in a Top of Iowa Conference girls basketball game.

Leading the Warriors was Ainsley Ulrich with 22 points and five steals, while Maisey Bierstedt had 16 points and nine rebounds. Shallie Walders had 12 points and three rebounds, while Alexis Cummins had 5 points and 3 rebounds and Ava Steinberger had 12 rebounds.

The Warriors are now 13-7 overall and 10-4 in conference play head to Garner Hayfield Ventura for a 6:15 p.m. game on Friday.

BOYS BASKETBALL

GHEC/T/ML 71, LOYOLA 68

MANKATO – The Granada-Huntley East Chain/Truman/Martin Luther Jaguars defeated Mankato Loyola in overtime 71-68 in a Tomahawk-Valley Conference, Valley Division game Tuesday night.

Leading the Jaguars was Eli Jensen with 19 points, while Brody Grathwohl had 16 points. Carson Hastad had 13 points, while Jackson Madsen and Bryce Borkenhagen each had 10 points.

Now 9-10 overall and 8-6 in conference play will host Waseca for a 7:15 p.m. in Truman on Thursday.

ST. PETER 85, FARIMONT 70

ST. PETER – The Fairmont Cardinals fell to the St. Peter Saints 85-70 Tuesday night in a Big South Conference basketball game.

Leading the Cardinals was Trevor Maakestad with 16 points and two rebounds, while Hadan Toomer had 12 points and two rebounds. Logan Junkermeier had 12 points and nine rebounds, while Oliver Tordsen had 10 points and eight rebounds.

The Cardinals now 12-8 overall and 8-7 in conference play head to Tri-City United for a 7:15 p.m. game on Friday.

NORTH UNION 60, EAGLE GROVE 55

ARMSTRONG, IA – The North Union Warriors defeated Eagle Grove 60-55 Tuesday night in a Top of Iowa Conference basketball game.

Leading the Warriors was Drew Henderson with 17 points and two rebounds, while Caden Walders had 14 points and five rebounds. Khael Jones had 11 points and five rebounds, while Greyson Colegrove had 6 points and five rebounds.

The Warriors now 8-11 overall and 6-8 in conference play head to Garner Hayfield Ventura for a 7:45 p.m. game on Fridday.

BOYS HOCKEY

FARIBAULT 7, FAIRMONT 3

FAIRMONT – The Fairmont Cardinals fell to Faribault 7-3 Tuesday night in a nonconference hockey game Tuesday night.

Scoring first for Fairmont was Gavin Kester assisted by Dayton Draper and Preston Cepress. The second goal came from Klay Beemer assisted by Noah Meixell, while the third and final goal came from Beemer this time assisted by Cepress.

The Fairmont Cardinals now 0-20 head to Waseca for a 5 p.m. on Thursday.
