FAIRMONT – The Fairmont Cardinals (11-7) fell to Luverne after a last-second shot 56-55 in a Big South Conference basketball game Monday night.

Leading the Cardinals was Oliver Tordsen with 19 points and five rebounds, while Logan Junkermeier had 17 points and 12 rebounds. Joseph Hackett had 6 points and two rebounds, while Nolan Schultze had 5 points and two rebounds.

Fairmont hosts the Blue Earth Area Buccaneers at 7:30 p.m. Friday.

SHERBURN – The Martin County West Mavericks (6-12) rallied back in the second half to overcome an 18-point Alden Conger/Glenville-Emmons lead and secure the 59-54 victory in a Tomahawk Valley Conference, Valley Division basketball game Monday night.

Leading the Mavericks was Jacob Wilmes with 25 points and 11 rebounds, while Chase Owens had 9 points and four rebounds. Kale Larson 8 points, six rebounds and two blocks.

The Mavericks host Madelia at 7 p.m. on Thursday.
