Area roundup: Mavericks shut down Mountain Lake

MCW 49, MOUNTAIN LAKE 19

COMFREY – The Martin County West Mavericks (10-3) secured a 49-19 victory over Mountain Lake in a nonconference girls basketball game Monday night.

Leading the Mavericks was Avery Sanders with 13 points, while Maddie Carlson had 8 points and eight rebounds. Addy Wohlhuter had 9 points in the Mavericks’ victory.

The Mavericks head to Madelia at 7 p.m. on Thursday.

NORTH UNION 64, CENTRAL SPRINGS 42

ARMSTRONG, IA – The North Union Warriors (5-5) girls basketball team defeated Central Springs 64-42 in a nonconference girls basketball game Monday night.

Leading the Warriors was Ainsley Ulrich with 24 points and two rebounds, while Maisey Bierstedt had 16 points and 13 rebounds. Shallie Walders had 11 points and four rebounds, while Alexis Cummins had 7 points and three rebounds.

The Warriors head to Eagle Grove at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday.

GHEC/T/ML 68, LYLE/PACELLI 45

LYLE – The Granada-Huntley East Chain/Truman/Martin Luther Jaguars (4-6) secured a 68-45 victory over Lyle/Pacelli in a nonconference boys basketball game Monday night.

Leading the Jaguars was Eli Jensen with a career-high 30 points and five steals, while Jackson Madsen had 23 points and 12 rebounds.

The Jaguars head to Comfrey at 7 p.m. Tuesday to take on Mountain Lake.

NORTH UNION 65, CENTRAL SPRINGS 28

ARMSTRONG, IA – The North Union Warriors (2-7) boys basketball team defeated Central Springs 65-28 in a nonconference basketball game Monday night.

Leading the Warriors was Khael Jones with 21 points, nine rebounds and 10 steals, while Grady Madden had 16 points, four rebounds and six steals. Greyson Colegrove had 9 points and seven rebounds, while Drew Henderson had 8 points and three rebounds.

The Warriors head to Eagle Grove at 7:45 p.m. Tuesday.

LAKE CRYSTAL 71, BEA 69

LAKE CRYSTAL – The Blue Earth Area Buccaneers (6-4) fell to Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial 71-69 Monday night in a nonconference basketball game.

Leading the Buccaneers was Will Bromeland with 26 points, while Branson Hauskins had 12 points. Gage Barker had 10 points, while Sully Dahlberg had 6 points.

The Buccaneers head to Belle Plaine at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday
