TRIMONT – The Martin County West Mavericks girls basketball team defeated the Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop Thunderbirds in a 53-39 win Monday night.

The Mavericks benefitted from 38 rebounds, 14 steals and 35 percent shooting from the 3-point line.

Leading the Mavericks was Emily Anderson, who put up 15 points, making 3 out of 4 free throws and sinking two 3-pointers, while Emily Schettler went 5 for 5 for 10 points. Addy Wohlhuter went 3 for 3 from the 3-point line for 9 points and Courtney Anderson went 2 for 2 from beyond the arc for 6 points on the night, while Ivy Olson put up 6 points.

The Mavericks’ next game is at 7 p.m. Tuesday at home against Cleveland.
