Dresses for a Cause expands

Action169 is back again with its Runway for Action pop-up dress shop, which provides formal dresses at a low cost while supporting women overcoming exploitation and addiction. It’s great to see that this program has not only continued, but expanded with a bigger space and more options. We hope local girls take advantage of the opportunity and look forward to seeing more come from out of town for it.

Sheriff’s Office ready to take on more coverage

The Martin County Sheriff’s Office has taken over policing for the cities of Truman and Northrop. Chief Deputy Corey Klanderud told the Martin County Commissioners this week that they’re able to take on services for more communities if requested to do so, but that they’re not seeking it out. Our local police departments are certainly valuable in more ways than you can count, but it’s also reassuring to know that the sheriff’s office has the ability to step in when needed. As always, we’re thankful for all of our local law enforcement offices.

Fairmont Elementary chosen for Ambassador Program

Fairmont Elementary is one of just six schools in the state to be recognized for its PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports), program the whole goal of which is to create a positive school culture. This recognition says a lot about our local schools and the staff within them, some of which will be meeting with educator program graduates across the state to explain what’s made the program so successful here. How fortunate are we to be in a community where this is happening and where our children are learning.

Starting at $2.99/week.
