A duty to help poor and hungry

To the Editor:

We all know about our duty to help the poor and hungry. That duty is repeatedly articulated in Scripture. Christ stressed that duty as one of the foundations of his Gospel message of love. But the difficult part of that duty is knowing how to fulfill it. We all want to help; we just don’t know how to go about doing it.

Well, that question can be answered by the upcoming “Kids Against Hunger” food pack taking place on February 8, 2025, at the Fairmont Armory from 8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. This great organization has been active in Fairmont for fifteen years, sending food donations to children in need. Everything is all set up and organized for you: all you have to do is recruit some neighbors, friends, or family to make a team of 10 people to help pack the food. To sign up, or just to get more information, contact Karen at kahfairmontmn@gmail.com or (507) 848-1260. You can also sign your team up at the website, kahfairmontmn.weebly.com.

If you’re not able to show up on February 8th, your financial donations are most welcome. Checks can be made out to “Kids Against Hunger” and sent to Sue Homan at 921 Hengen St., Fairmont, MN 56031.

We all search for ways to help the needy, and especially children–and this event gives us a great chance to do so.
