Consider preserving history on Give to the Max Day
To the editor:
A matching funds campaign is in full force for the Red Rock Center for the Arts and Chubb House, managed by the Martin County Preservation Association, a 501c3 tax-deductible organization. Nov. 21 is Give to the Max Day in Minnesota, an annual event to celebrate and support the state’s many nonprofits. Join in the celebration and consider making a tax-deductible donation to the Martin County Preservation Association and helping us rebuild our savings.
Over the last year, we’ve made some substantial repairs to the historic Chubb House. Built in 1867, it is the oldest surviving house in Martin County. This spring, the electrical system was updated, with new electrical wiring through the main floor; however, there is no electricity on the upstairs. This fall, the Chubb House will have a new roof, another much-needed update. The Chubb House is an important structure in the community and volunteers are working to bring more awareness to this house, Our volunteers look forward to opening its doors to the public more often in the months ahead.
Red Rock Center for the Arts, built in 1898, is a beautifully restored venue that brings engaging performances, captivating art displays, and fun art education opportunities to the community. It is also used by many throughout the area for special occasions, business meetings, fundraising events, and more. Although the Red Rock and Chubb House is structurally sound, regular repairs and updates are needed to maintain and preserve these historic buildings. Along with some accessibility updates at the Chubb House, the roof at the Red Rock Center may need shingling as soon as next summer.
Please join us in preserving these two historic properties. When you make a charitable donation between now and Christmas, your donation will be DOUBLED. A generous donor has graciously offered to match, dollar for dollar, up to $10,000 for every donation from now until Christmas. No matter how small or large your donation is, it will be greatly appreciated and make a difference. Donations are accepted in person, by mail, MCPA, 222 E Blue Earth Ave, Fairmont, MN 56031, or online at www.givemn.org/organization/Martin-County-Preservation-Association.
Thank you for your consideration and for supporting YOUR community through arts and culture.
