Edward Herman Langford was born March 7, 1941, in a country home in Martin County, Minnesota. He married the love of his life, Vikki Kay Hicks on July 28, 1962, and they were blessed with four children.

Ed attended Country School and later graduated from Fairmont High School in 1959, before attending Mankato Vocational School for Auto Mechanics. He worked at the Standard Station in Fairmont before starting his career with Breen Implement John Deere Dealer in the summer of 1963. Ed worked as a Mechanic, then later in the Parts Department until retiring in 2013. He was committed to helping farmers either with a helping hand, a fixing suggestion, or getting the right repair part. He also worked evenings and weekends on the Celander Family Farm doing maintenance, mechanical repairs, planting, and harvesting for over 40 years.

Ed was very handy and able to build or fix just about anything; farm equipment, engines, bicycles, snowmobiles, many house projects with friends and family; replacing basement walls, building decks, stairs, campers, trailers, and garages. Ed was always busy either working or enjoying the outdoors. He also worked as a bartender at the Lake Aires Supper Club. He loved to camp with family and friends and was a Boy Scout Leader for Troop 56 with his three sons, and continued volunteering for many years without them. Ed also volunteered many hours at the Chubb House and Red Rock Center. He enjoyed playing card games, board games, and putting together large puzzles. He was an avid bowler with a Bowlmor Bowling League team on Wednesday nights with a 170+ lifetime average. Ed was a founding member of the Blizzard Snowmobile Club; 30 Years as a youth Safety Training Instructor, Trail maintenance and grooming, transportation during blizzards for doctors, nurses, telephone operators, etc. Ed and Vikki took many snowmobiling trips with family and friends to Yellowstone, S.D., Mich., and Northern Minn.

Ed was a lifetime member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church; volunteered as an usher, money-counter, attended Adoration, and was a member of the Knights of Columbus with 50 Years of Service.

Ed’s family greatly appreciates the loving care and compassion that Goldfinch Memory Care and UHD Hospice have provided.

He is survived by his wife Vikki; his siblings Norm (Sandy) Langford, Carol Jurs, George (Joan) Langford, and Mary Schoenert; his four children Gwenn (Joe) Kuhn, Ken (Lorrie) Langford, Brent (Maria) Langford, Brian (Leah) Langford; grandchildren; Jacob, Marty, Paul, David, Katie, Krystal, Ryan, Bryan, Angela, Nicholas, Alysha, Miranda, Isaac, Sebastian, Augustine, Louren, Sean, and 16 great grandchildren.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Archie and Corrine (Studer); brother Vernon Langford; infant brother; and brother-in-law Larry Jurs.

Memorials are preferred to The Red Rock Center, Chubb House, St. John Vianney, and Knights of Columbus.
