Steve was born on Feb. 7, 1969, to Michael Petersen and Marcella (Quade) Shumski. He grew up in Fairmont and graduated from high school in 1987. Steve found great fulfillment in his work in trucking and his passion for the transportation industry was evident to all who knew him. He was a nominee for driver of the year in Aug. 2014, an achievement he was very proud of. Steve owned his own trucking company for many years where he learned all aspects of the business. When not working, he enjoyed spending time with family, fishing, bowling, traveling, and loved trying different foods.

Steve was blessed to have his wife, Debra, his daughters Ashley (Kris) Andersen, Lauren (Josh) Moll, grandchildren Jaydyn, Christopher, Bailey, and his beloved dog Stormy by his side during his final weeks. He appreciated all others who visited and reached out during this difficult time.
