Phyllis A. Niehaus

FAIRMONT — Funeral Service for Phyllis A. Niehaus, 89, of Fairmont, Minn., will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 26, at Grace Lutheran Church in Fairmont with interment in Lakeside Cemetery in Fairmont. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 25, at the Lakeview Funeral Home and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. Phyllis passed away on Thursday evening, Feb. 20, 2025, at Valley Vue Care Center in Armstrong, Iowa. Lakeview Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Phyllis Ann (Traetow) Niehaus was born on March 6, 1935, to Gerhardt and Gertrude (Nawrocki) Traetow in Waverly Township, Martin County, Minn. She went to Zion Lutheran Church School through 8th Grade and then attended Truman High School for one year before graduating from Welcome High School in 1953.

Phyllis was united in marriage to Steven A. Niehaus on July 10, 1971, at Grace Lutheran Church in Fairmont. She worked for Dr. R. Lund Chiropractic in the office for a few years and then went to work as a layout editor for the Fairmont Sentinel for thirty-two years.

Phyllis was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Fairmont and was active in Circle. She had many enjoyments in life including baking, canning, fishing, planting flowers, reading, going for coffee with family and friends, and watching and going to her grandchildren’s sporting events. Phyllis loved Christmas time and enjoyed setting up her snow village. Phyllis and Steven shared fifty-four years together. Above all, family was everything to her and she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Those left to cherish her memory include her loving husband, Steven Niehaus of Fairmont, Minn.; children, Brenda (Tom) Feddersen of Armstrong, Iowa, Brian Schoberg of Owatonna, Minn. and Stacie (Blake) Biggerstaff of Mitchell, S.D; grandchildren, Travis (Hannah) Feddersen, Tyler (Kaela) Feddersen, Lindsay (Craig) Meier, Tony Schoberg, Kyle (Kaelyn) Biggerstaff, Katelyn (Alex) Nelson and Eric (Kaylee) Biggerstaff; great-grandchildren, Blair Burkman, Rhett Feddersen, Colt Feddersen and Ellanora Nelson; brothers, Richard (Marlys) Traetow of Fairmont, Minn. and Robert (Vivian) Traetow of Fairmont, Minn.; brother-in-law, Charles (Julaine) Niehaus of Troy, Mich.; and many nieces, nephews and other extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Gerhardt and Gertrude Traetow, and sister-in-law, Colleen Traetow.
