Barbara Clark

FAIRMONT — Funeral Service for Barbara Clark, 92, of Fairmont, Minn., will be 11 a.m. on Feb. 4, at the United Methodist Church in Fairmont with interment in Welcome City Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Barbara passed away on Sunday afternoon, Jan. 19, 2025, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Mankato, Minn. Lakeview Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Barbara Jean Clark was born on March 7, 1932, in Welcome, Minn., daughter of Henry and Dorothy (Wolford) Meyer. She received her education in the Welcome School and Mankato State College.

On Sept. 7, 1951, she married Robert Vaughn Clark at the Welcome Methodist Church. This marriage was blessed with three daughters, Valarie, Rebecca and Cynthia. Barb and her husband owned and operated Clark’s Variety Store in Sherburn for 17 years. In 1970, they moved to Fairmont where she was employed at the Sentinel for 21 years. She retired from the Sentinel in 1992. Barb and Bob were blessed with 65 years of marriage before he passed away in Sept. of 2019.

Barb was a member of the Fairmont United Methodist Church and sang in the choir. She was also a member of Rose Lake Golf Club where she loved being out on the golf course, getting a game of golf in, and spending time with her friends and family. Family was the most important thing besides her faith, and she always enjoyed playing card games and being around her family. Barb enjoyed puzzles, sudoku, and crosswords. She was a huge supporter of the American Red Cross where she has donated over 21 gallons of blood. Barb will be remembered as being a positive person with a loving heart who loved to laugh.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters, Val (Reg) Hawes of Battle Lake, Minn., Becky (Joe) Meyer of Madison Lake, Minn. and Cindy (Doug) Flitter of Mankato, Minn.; eleven grandchildren, Stephanie (Craig) Carter, Cullen (Abby) Hawes, Alissa (Laddie) Bata, Bob (Bree) Meyer, Bill (Gerri) Meyer, Lindsay (Andy) Archer, Brianna (Dustin) Hoffmann, Mike (Kylee) Meyer, Tim (Megin) Flitter, Chad (Ashley) Flitter, and Jamie Snow; thirty-three great-grandchildren, Desi, Melea, Daxon, Chelsea Carter, Landon, Allie, Taylor Hawes, Ethan, Connor, Dane Bata, Jackson, Savannah, Charlotte Meyer, Piper Cogswell-Sullivan, Leland, Rubi, Ruben Meyer, Lenny, Julian, Vivian Archer, Addyson, Declan, Caysen Hoffmann, Logann, Camden, Crosby Meyer, Macy and Dylan Flitter, Brynja, Eleanora, Dalton, Falon Flitter, and Oliver Snow; many nieces, nephews and other extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Dorothy Meyer; husband, Robert Vaughn Clark; siblings, Marshall (Maxine) Meyer, Betty Lou (Alvin) Krueger, Patricia (Donald) Morrow, and Rosemary (Donald) Keck; brothers and sisters-in-law, Vivian (Jake) Eitzen, Blanch (Cecil) Beckman and Charlotte (Delancy) Cantine; and great-grandchild, Monroe Mae Meyer.

Memorials are preferred to Fairmont United Methodist Church, Rose Lake Golf Club, St. Jude’s Hospital, or One Bright Star.
