Ardella H. Nagel
FAIRMONT — Funeral services for Ardella H. Nagel, 96, of Story City, Iowa, formerly of Fairmont, Minn., will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 17, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Fairmont. Burial will be following the service in Fairview Memorial Park Cemetery in Fairmont. Visitation will be one hour prior to the time of service from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 17, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Fairmont, Minn. Ardella passed away Sunday, Jan. 12, 2025, at the Households of Bethany in Story City, Iowa. Lakeview Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
Ardella Hilda Lydia (Simmering) Nagel was born Sept. 26, 1928, in Rolling Green Township, rural Martin County, Minn., the daughter of Edward and Alma (Miedtke) Simmering. Ardella was baptized at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church on Oct. 7, 1928, and later confirmed on March 29, 1942. Ardella attended St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Parochial School in Wilbert, Minn., and finished her education graduating from Fairmont High School in Fairmont, Minn.
On Feb. 26, 1952, Ardella was united in marriage to Milan Nagel at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Wilbert, Minn. The couple farmed in various area communities for many years before settling in Fairmont and were blessed with four children, Russell, Linda, Michael, and Mary.
Faith was an important part of Ardella’s life. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Fairmont where she was a member of LWML and Naomi Circle. Ardella enjoyed time spent at community bible study and was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Ardella cherished spending time with family and especially looked forward to visits from her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Russell (Nancy) Nagel, Linda Nordstrom, and Michael (Marie) Nagel; son-in-law, Rick Nienow; 10 grandchildren, Kiphany (David) Hof, Matt (Rachel) Nordstrom, Katie (Darin) Madson, Daniel Nagel, Tony (Carrie) Nagel, Ethan (Amanda) Nagel, Sarah (Jeremy) Bolden, Aaron (Samantha) Green, Hannah Green, and Mariah Green; 14 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Marlene Simmering; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Ardella was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Alma Simmering; husband, Milan Nagel; daughter, Mary Nienow; son-in-law, Greg Nordstrom; grandson, Lucas Green; brothers, Donald Simmering and Eugene Simmering; sister-in-law, Lorna Simmering.
The family requests memorials be given in Ardella’s name to St. Paul Lutheran School and St. Paul Lutheran Hour Broadcast on KSUM radio.
