David W. Hunter

BANCROFT, Iowa — A private family service for David W. Hunter, 70, of Bancroft, Iowa, formerly of Fairmont and Northrop, Minn., will be held Friday, Jan. 3, at the Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 2, at the Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont. David passed away Friday, Dec. 20, 2024, at his home in Bancroft, Iowa, surrounded by his loving family. Lakeview Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

David Wayne Hunter was born on June 10, 1954, in Windom, Minn., the son of Vernard E. and Joy M. (Wilkin) Hunter. David grew up in Windom and received his education from the Windom Public School.

David would later move to Fairmont, where he owned and operated Fairmont Office Supplies for many years. David was also very knowledgeable and had a passion for carpentry and construction and worked as a general contractor in Northrop, Minn..

On Aug. 24, 2007, David was united in marriage to Ranae Larsen in Fairmont, Minn. The couple made their home in Northrop and later Bancroft, Iowa, where they were putting the finishing touches on their retirement home.

David loved classic cars and looked forward to warm summer months and area car shows. He was a master at grilling and enjoyed quiet evenings at home. David was an avid Minnesota Twins Fan, loved playing softball, and was never one to let an opportunity to play Texas Hold Em pass him by.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Ranae Hunter; children, Nicholas Hunter, Nicole (Josh) Kuisle, Mercedes (Alex) Hatfield, Matthew (Melissa) Larsen, and Michael (Courtney) Larsen; grandchildren, Kian, Kolan, Kaylin, Raylan, Charlie Jo, Parker, Ryker, and Lyam; siblings, Gary Hunter, Virginia Clark, Carolyn Ross, and Karen Hunter; as well as many nieces, nephews, in-laws, extended family and friends.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Vernard and Joy Hunter, a brother, Jim Hunter, and father-in-law Kenneth Neuharth.
