Paul Ziegler
MAPLETON — Paul Ziegler, 85, passed away on his birthday on Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2024, at the Mapleton Community Home. With his wife, granddaughter, and great-granddaughter at his side. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 20 at the Community Covenant Church in Huntley. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 19 at Spencer-Owen Funeral Home in Winnebago and continue one hour before the service at the church. Paul E. Ziegler born was Dec. 11, 1939 in Mankato to Roger Ziegler and Evelyn Perrizo. Paul graduated from Easton-Delavan School and worked for grain elevators and a NAPA Auto Parts store.
He was married to Mary Ann Malherek, together they were blessed with seven children. Later divorcing in 1989. Paul then remarried on March 24, 1990, to Marian Johnson and gained five stepchildren, which he called his own.
Paul was passionate about making crafts and building go-carts, tractors, and soapbox derby cars.
He also had the courage to make fake bombs for July 4th displays. You could find Paul in the garage tinkering with whatever he could. Paul valued life and family; he loved his wife very much. He enjoyed teasing his children on dos and don’ts. He strived to help them in any way he could. He was a member of the Community Covenant Church of Huntley.
Left to cherish his memory, his wife Marian of 34 years, 11 months, and 11 days. His seven children, five stepchildren, many grandchildren, and great-grandchildren as well as other extended family.
Paul is preceded in death by his parents, mother-in-law Mina Lowman, sister Mary Ann Welker, brother Robert Ziegler and many other loving relatives.
