FAIRMONT — A Celebration of Life Service for David R. Hoppe, 52, of Fairmont will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 13, at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Fairmont, Minn. A private family burial will be held at a later date. Visitation will be prior to the service from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 13, at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Fairmont. David passed away Monday, Dec. 2, 2024, at his home in Fairmont. Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service is assisting the family with arrangements.

David Robert Hoppe was born Nov. 3, 1972, in Minneapolis, Minn., the son of Roger and Gretchen (Stauff) Hoppe. As a young boy, David moved with his family to Sherburn, Minn, where he received his education and graduated from Martin County West High School with the class of 1991. Following his graduation, David went on to further his education by attending Iowa Lakes Community College where he focused his studies on Radio Broadcasting.

David worked for several area radio stations but found his true calling while writing and composing short stories and poems. In a joint effort with STEP Inc. David was able to publish his own book of short stories and poems, an accomplishment he was extremely proud of.

David loved music and movies and when not enjoying those, could be found transferring old VHS tapes to DVD. He treasured the friendships made while living at Friendship Village in Fairmont and looked forward to the many activities scheduled, especially BINGO!

Faith was an important part of David’s life. He was a long-time member of the Evangelical Covenant Church in Fairmont where he served his Lord in many different capacities.

Left to cherish his memory is his mother, Gretchen Hoppe; siblings, Brian (Etole) Hoppe and Sarah (Michael) Frederick; nieces and nephews, Cora-Lynn (Josh) Britt, David (Emily) Hoppe, Etole (Thomas) Harrison, Josh Frederick, Jared Frederick, and Robert Frederick; great-nephews, Jasper, Everett, and Gabriel; as well as many other extended family and friends.

David was preceded in death by his father, Roger Hoppe; paternal grandparents, Edward Hoppe and Ruth and Al Meyer; and maternal grandparents, Robert and Eileen Stauff.
