Marian M. DeLeon
BLUE EARTH — Marian Martha DeLeon was born May 24, 1938, in Blue Earth to Albert and Alta (Ehrich) Renkly. Marian was baptized, confirmed, and later united in marriage to Arnold (Arnie) DeLeon at Immanuel Lutheran Church of Blue Earth.
Marian was very creative and giving of her time and talents to the activities of her five children as a scout leader and also a cooking and sewing 4-H leader. Soon Marian decided to use her love of sewing to start her business called Marian’s Draperies creating custom-made draperies for her clients. She enjoyed this adventure for many years.
Marian was also an active and brave participant in many family sports over the years such as golf and tennis, water skiing and snow skiing, camping, and traveling to Colorado, California, and Texas to see family and friends. The yearly “up north” week of fishing with the family was always a highlight of the summer.
After the passing of her husband Arnie, she helped her son Jay at Pow Wows and fly tackle dealer shows. She also continued to travel with her children, siblings, and friends throughout the U.S., and overseas. She spent the winters in Scottsdale and Mesa, AZ, enjoying playing golf and the warm weather. She had a “hole in one” and won the Riverside Club Championship in 2017 of which she was very proud. Marian will be remembered by her family for her love, and kindness, always making time for the important things and the many outstanding holiday gatherings.
Marian will be missed by her daughter Julie (Craig) Thompson, son Jay, son Guy (Patti), and son Troy (Diane), 14 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren. siblings Richard (Eunyce) Renkly, Elaine Alderink, Alice (Harly) Kuchenbecker and Rodger (Jody) Renkly, sisters-in-law Corrine Renkly and Anne Renkly, along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Arnie, son Thane, brothers Maynard, Darold, Harold and wife Pat, sister Violet Mensing, and husband Henry.
Marian passed away Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2024 at Clarks Crossing in Wells. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 16 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Blue Earth. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 15 at Patton Funeral Home. Online condolences can be left at www.pattonfh.com.
