Deborah Smith
FAIRMONT — Deborah (Graue) Smith passed into heaven on Friday, Oct. 25, after a courageous battle with cancer. Deb was a light in the lives of everyone who knew her, bringing joy, laughter, and warmth wherever she went. Her greatest happiness came from spending time with her family, friends, and being active in her community.
Deb had a deep love for crafting, especially sewing, where her creativity truly shined. She was also an incredible cook, and her baked goods were always a treat for those lucky enough to enjoy them. Beyond her talents, it was Deb’s infectious love of life and energy that truly set her apart. She found joy in the everyday moments and had a special love for dogs, who were always showered with her affection.
Deb is survived by her loving family: daughters, Jennifer (Chad) Hietpas and Michelle (Jeff) Mair, and her beloved grandchildren, Courtney Grams, Lindsey Grams, Taya Hietpas, Ezra Hietpas, Aubrey Mair, Carrigan Mair, Hudson Mair, Akira, and Tigre. She is also survived by her brothers, Denny (Lisa), Greg (Lisa), and Kevin (Caroline), and her sister, Pam. Her nephews and nieces were especially dear to her, and she cherished the bond she had with each of them. Her family and many friends truly meant the world to her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Darlene, and her sister, Cindy.
Deb’s love, creativity, and joyful spirit will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. She leaves behind a legacy of laughter, recipes, love, and cherished memories that will live on in the hearts of her family and friends forever. Per Deb’s wishes, no formal service will be held. The family will be having a private celebration of life at a later date.
