Kenneth James Detloff was born Oct. 2, 1953, in Minneapolis, Minn, the son of Victor S. and M. Florence (Czech) Detloff. Ken grew up in Swanville, Minn, where he received his education and graduated from Swanville High School. Ken would go on to further his education by attending Jackson Vo Tech College in Jackson, Minn.
From a young age, Ken took great interest in how things worked. This passion took him on a career path in manufacturing where he worked to develop operational hydraulic units. On Oct. 2, 1981, Ken was united in marriage to Barbara K. Pope in Fairmont, Minn. The couple made their home in Welcome for a short time before moving to Truman and Sioux Valley, Minn. The couple then returned to rural Truman and finally made their home on an acreage near Granada, Minn. Ken and Barb were blessed with four children, Cary, Ryan, Mickie and Megan.
In his spare time, Ken enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time working to improve the acreage he and Barb shared. “Easy Acres” was a place where Ken and Barb found great peace and joy and loved spending time together with their family there sitting around fires and sharing laughs with those he cared about the most, his family and friends. Ken loved his family more than anything and treasured the many memories made with them traveling. Ken was a member of the National Wild Turkey Federation and was current President of the Fairmont Service Club.
