Kay received her education attending school in Fairmont and graduated from Fairmont High School with the class of 1962. At the request of her father, Kay went on to further her education, attending college and also working at Fairmont Railway Motors in the office.
On Sept. 26, 1964, Kay was united in marriage to John Michael Kimmet at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Fairmont, Minn. Together the couple made their home in Ringsted for two years before moving to a farm near Fairmont, Minn.. Kay and Mike welcomed home three children, Mary, Lisa, and David.
Kay enjoyed the quietness of living in the country and took great pride in a hard day’s work. For many years, she and Mike raised hogs, and she was never afraid to help with the chores. Kay also worked as a substitute teacher and was a paraprofessional with the Fairmont school system helping with special education. In her spare time, Kay enjoyed the challenge of putting together puzzles or watching a Western movie. She loved helping Mike and could often be found riding a passenger in his truck on the way to deliver wood. Kay found joy in visiting new places and cherished the memories made on road trips. She had a soft spot in her heart for the many four-legged friends that she had through the years-Prince, Ginger, Floppy, Samantha, Max, Smokey, and Roxey. Kay was a member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Fairmont. In her later years, she enjoyed playing Bingo. Kay loved her family and treasured spending time with her children and grandchildren.
