Vanessa A. Olson was born on Feb. 15, 1965, in Trimont, Minn., the daughter of David Gjerston and Barb Hampton. As a young girl, Vanessa moved with her family to Iowa for a short time before returning to Trimont where she attended school and graduated from Trimont High School with the class of 1983.

Following her graduation, Vanessa moved to Albert Lea, Minn., where she attended cosmetology school. While attending school, Vanessa lived with Lowell and Jan Jerdee and helped take care of their daughter. Vanessa cherished her time with the Jerdees and considered them family.

After earning her cosmetology degree, Vanessa married her high school sweetheart, and the couple was blessed with two children, Luke and Dani. The couple later divorced, and Vanessa was blessed to later have a daughter Blaire with Mark Trembley.

Vanessa loved her work as a beautician and was proud to own and operate her own salon for many years. She made her home in various towns throughout Minnesota before returning to Southern Minnesota and making her home in Fairmont. Vanessa was passionate about horses and loved the chance to take a ride on a beautiful summer day. Her passion for horses also led her to help in training and exercising thoroughbreds. Vanessa loved to dance and enjoyed sharing her love of dance with others by teaching country line dancing. She treasured spending time fishing and working in her garden with her family.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Luke Bloomquist; Dani Bloomquist; and Blaire (Nolan) Crockford; grandchildren, Eli, Madelyn, Sila, and Malakai; mother, Barb Hampton sisters, Sheri Nelson her children, Zach, Talon, Mikaela; and Eva (Darin) Wagner and their children, Ashley, Kurtis; as well as many other extended family and friends.

Vanessa was preceded in death by her father, David Gjerston; brother, Corey Gjerston; grandparents, Herbert and Florence Gjerston and Jonas and Eva Goossen; two nieces, Carissa Gjerston and Judith Gjerston; and other family.
