Darlene Eisenmenger

FAIRMONT — Mass of Christian Burial for Darlene Eisenmenger will be held 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 8, 2024, at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Fairmont. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Fairmont. Visitation will be prior to the service from 10-11:30 a.m. Thursday at the church. Darlene passed away Friday, Aug. 2, 2024, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Fairmont. Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Fairmont is assisting the family with arrangements.

Darlene was born Jan. 5, 1932, in Martin County, Minn., daughter of John and Elizabeth (Huck) Loos. She grew up in Sherburn, graduating from Sherburn High School in 1950. In 1951, she was married to John Eisenmenger at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Mississippi. This marriage was blessed with five children, Tom, Maribeth, Jeanne, Susan and Elizabeth.

Upon his discharge from the military, Darlene and John made their home in Sherburn, Minn. Darlene kept busy as a homemaker and a writer for the Sherburn paper. In 1965, John and Darlene moved to Fairmont, Minn. to start their own Chrysler dealership, Eisenmenger Dodge. Darlene was the bookkeeper/secretary/receptionist for the business. Eventually the dealership was sold.

Darlene was a member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church. She was a member of CCW and St. Michael Circle, a life member of the Fairmont Community Hospital Auxiliary, Salvation Army Auxiliary and Martin County Historical Society. Darlene enjoyed traveling with her husband, John, in their motor home. They spent many winters traveling south to meet up with friends and family who were snowbirds from Minnesota. There was not an antique shop that they would pass that they didn’t stop at. She loved to quilt, gifting them to organizations to raffle or to her children and grandchildren.

Left to cherish her memory are her children: Tom Eisenmenger and wife, Cheryl of Brainerd, Minn., Maribeth Krueger and friend, Rick Linck of Elk Grove, Calif., Jeanne Alm and husband, Bob of Minnetonka, Minn. and Susan Underdahl of Brainerd, Minn.; son-in-law, Dave Welsh of Kettle River, Minn.; 13 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Marsha Sickler of Sherburn, Minn.; brother-in-law, Mike Eisenmenger and wife, Holly of Sioux Falls, S.D.; Barbara Eisenmenger of Minneapolis, Minn.; along with many nieces, nephews, other family members and dear friends.

Darlene was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, John; her daughter, Elizabeth Welsh; parents; sisters, Elizabeth (Earl) Hurlbert, Margaret (Ralph) Schmidt and Ann (Fred) Grewe; brothers, John Loos, Adam Loos, Jake (Edith) Loos and Bob (Janet) Loos; mother and father-in-law, Urban and Alma Eisenmenger; brother-in-law, Tom Sickler; infant great-niece, Ellen Sickler; nieces, Penny Loos and Jackie Loos; and nephews, Berry Loos, Fritz Grewe and Dallas Schmidt.
