Norma J. Olson
FAIRMONT — A memorial service for Norma J. Olson, age 94, of Fairmont, Minn., will be held 1 p.m. Monday, July 29, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Fairmont. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Sunday, July 28, at Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont and one hour prior to the service Monday at the church. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to Immanuel Lutheran Church in Fairmont.
Norma passed away Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Fairmont. Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Fairmont is assisting the family with arrangements.
Norma Jean Olson was born Nov. 11, 1929, to Louis and Martha (Jacobson) Kleine in Dunnell, Minn. She attended school in Dunnell and graduated from Sherburn High School.
On Nov. 16, 1947, Norma was united in marriage to Lowell Kenneth Olson in Sherburn. After their marriage they made their home in Fairmont. Norma worked at various jobs including waitressing and cooking in her younger years and later at Stokely-Van Camp in Fairmont for many years.
Norma was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Fairmont and was also a member of Al-Anon. She enjoyed sewing and made many different things through the years. Norma loved baking and will be remembered for her brownies and banana bread just to name a few. She also spent a lot of hours refinishing antique furniture. Family was very important to Norma and she especially loved being with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Those left to cherish her memory include: three children, Pam Abelson, Butch (Diane) Olson and Martha (Duane) Danner; 26 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and other extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Martha Kleine; husband, Lowell Olson; two daughters, Neva Kelly and Deb Olson; two grandsons, Kevin Abelson and Jim Kelly; two great-granddaughters, Kelly Vandereide and Erica Vandereide; three brothers; and one sister.
