GRANADA — Matthew Weisbrod and his son, Ethan Weisbrod, passed away suddenly Thursday, Sept. 21, 2023. The family finds comfort knowing that their last moments were spent together, driving their favorite car. Family and friends are invited to a visitation from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2023, at Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont, Minn. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 28, 2023, at Saint Mary’s Catholic Church in Armstrong, Iowa, with visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. Matthew was born Nov. 11, 1974, at the Fairmont Community Hospital in Fairmont, Minn. to Tilla (McIntyre) and Roger Weisbrod. He is the oldest of three. If you had the pleasure of meeting Matt, you know that he is the life of the party. He’s famous for his love of music, hosting race nights, 6-5-4 (side bets), sports, animals and parties in his garage. Matt has the ability to make anyone laugh. He loves his family and friends fiercely. His infectious smile, ability to brighten a room, wit, movie quotes, amongst many things, will be missed.
Ethan was born Dec. 4, 2003, at Children’s Hospital in St. Paul, Minn., to Karla and Matthew Weisbrod. He is the youngest of three, and famously referred to himself as the “Goblin Child” because of a Christmas ornament he tried to make in kindergarten to announce himself as the “Golden Child.” Ethan was always the reason behind our smiles and laughter growing up. He has a lifelong love of football, fishing and anything with a motor. Ethan is adored by his niece and nephew, Zoey and Dawson. Ethan is a very driven and hardworking individual. His spirit, humor, hair and company will be missed eternally.
Ethan and Matthew are preceded in death by Melissa Weisbrod, (aunt, sister), John and Catherine McIntyre (great-grandparents, grandparents), Lyle Weisbrod (great-grandpa, grandpa), Betty Paulson (great grandma, grandma), Richard Berhow (grandpa, father-in-law), beloved pets: Sparky Weisbrod, Jim (the squirrel), Hogan Crowe.
The dynamic pair will be remembered by, Karla Weisbrod (mother, spouse), Mallory and Tori Crowe (sisters, daughters), Tilla and Roger Weisbrod (grandparents, parents), Amanda Berhow (grandma, mother-in-law), Mark Weisbrod (uncle, brother), Renee Hebenstreit (aunt, sister-in-law), Rodney, Kyle and Michael Berhow (uncles, brothers-in-law), Zoey and Dawson (niece/nephew, grandchildren), Brooke Grathwohl (partner, honorary daughter), Vonn Weisbrod (beloved dog) and many more family and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that you donate in their names to a local animal rescue or wildlife foundation of your choosing.
