Brenda J. Neumann

FAIRMONT — Brenda Joann (Sanders) Neumann blessed Melvin Kenneth and Myrtle Joann (Frazier) Sanders on Feb. 16, 1961, in Oskaloosa, Iowa. She graduated from Ankeny High School in 1980, and summer interned at Banker’s Life (Principal Financial Group) in Des Moines, Iowa. She was employed there for some 20 years until she joined Wells Fargo Des Moines, rising to become Technology Business Systems Associate Vice President in Minneapolis, Minn. She was baptized in a mountain setting near Medford, IR in the latter 1990’s. Brenda married the love of her life, James Christian Neumann of Fairmont, Minn., on April 27, 2019, at Hosanna Lutheran Church in Mankato, Minn. In doing so, she became a bonus mom and bonus grandmother (frequently referred to as Gram Brenda) to Jim’s family: Amanda (Parker Weihe and children: Ivy, Warren, Milo, and expecting a fourth, of Truman, Minn.), Alicia, Aaron, and Adam, all of Minneapolis.

Brenda entered into her Father’s heavenly kingdom on Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2021, leading a courageous fight against colon cancer for almost two years. In addition to her parents and new family, she was survived by her brother, Bryan (Tammra Robertson) Sanders and their children, Emily, Allisen, and Matthew of Sylvania, Ohio; sister, Nancy (Kent) Sayles, and their children: Colton and Chad of Grimes, Iowa. She was especially fond of Uncle Carmen and Aunt Dorothy (Koehn) Sanders of Newton, Iowa. She was preceded in death by grandparents, Alfred McCajah (Cage) and Mary Elizabeth (Scott) Sanders of Oskaloosa, Iowa, and Stephen and Myrtle (Larson) Frazier of Eddyville, Iowa. The family appreciated the assistance from MN Home Health Care palliative nurses, Ashley and Karen, in taking excellent care of Brenda and showing kindness and compassion to the family. Closed casket service attendance will be limited due to COVID-19 concerns; with the public gathering at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 16, 2021, prior to services at 11 a.m. at Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont, with interment at Lakeside Cemetery, Fairmont. Facemasks are required. The family requests in lieu of flowers that donations in Brenda’s name be directed to their local food banks.
