Kenneth DeWayne Kabe was born Jan. 19, 1932, in Blue Earth, Minn., the son of Arthur H. and Ruth O. (Wilson) Kabe. He began his education attending eight years of country schools before attending Fairmont High School for two years and finishing his education at Sherburn High School, graduating in 1949. On Feb. 25, 1951, Ken was united in marriage to Joyce H. Christophel at the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Fairmont. Together the couple made their home on a farm west of Sherburn. Later he moved to farms near Dunnell and Guckeen, before moving to the farm north of Fairmont where they have been for the last 50 years. Ken loved farming and took great pride in planting and harvesting the crops. His hard work didn’t end there as he also raised dairy cattle for many years, and also beef cattle. In his spare time, Ken enjoyed working in his garden. He found great joy in his life through his faith and his family. Ken was very active in the Minnesota Holstein Association and the Simmental Association. He was the Dairy Project Leader for 4-H and also served his church by being a deacon and an usher, and a past board member of the St. Paul’s Lutheran School.
