Voss duo helps with spring cleaning needs

FAIRMONT– Voss Cleaning Services has added a new division to its corporation as it acquired PC Janitorial Supply at 601 North Prairie Avenue in Fairmont earlier this year.
Prior to this new addition, owner Chris Voss has already had CleanRite ChemDry and CleanRite Janitorial.
He started with CleanRite ChemDry 17 years ago and did that exclusively for about six years before buying the janitorial division, which was called CleanRite Carpet Service.
“We started small and have been adding on here and there,” Chris said.
CleanRite ChemDry, which son Jordan Voss is general manager of, is located at 1140 Lake Avenue. This is the floor side of the business and they do carpet cleaning, upholstery cleaning, striping and waxing floors, tile and grout cleaning and hardwood floor cleanings.
With this they do both residential and commercial floor cleaning throughout Martin County and also in Faribault County, Watonwan County and parts of northern Iowa.
“Now through October is basically our busiest time,” said Chris. “A lot of people love to have their stuff cleaned when it’s warm and nice out.”
Jordan added that people also don’t like to have leaves, snow and slop from the colder months entering their houses so the spring and summer is a better time to clean.
CleanRite Janitorial cleans businesses only, though Chris said they have done a few move out and move in cleans, but not weekly cleaning in residences, though he said there is a demand for it in Fairmont.
Currently they clean 38 local businesses with this side of their corporation.
“Some are every night and some are a couple times a week and some are once a week,” Chris said.
With the addition of PC Janitorial, which Chris said they will likely rename to CleanRite Cleaning Services and Supplies, they might move everything to the new North Prairie location. For now though they’re focused on getting settled and getting the word out.
“This addition allows us to sell all you can think of for janitorial cleaning supplies. From paper products like toilet paper and hand towels to soaps and chemicals and cleaning equipment like mops and big machines,” Chris said.
He noted they had already been selling some cleaning supplies, though on a much smaller scale.
“It made sense to purchase this and put it together and make the transition,” he said. “It’s exciting to do it on a lot larger scale.”
Jordan added, “It’s nice to keep a local family name in the town instead of having someone else come in that no one knows. It’s nice to have local roots connected to people.”
Chris agreed with that and said they’re glad to be able to offer these supplies locally rather than businesses having to go out and find their supplies out of town.
“Not only do we deliver it to them but they can stop in here and pick it up,” he said.
Right now the corporation employees 18 full and part-time staff members. Looking at where they started to where they are now is something the Voss’ are proud of.
“It’s been an awesome experience to go from a small business that we had just with floor care to being able to offer all kinds of different services to not only individuals but businesses. It’s been a privilege to have this opportunity,” Jordan said.
