Martin County West Prom on Saturday

SHERBURN — The Sherburn Theatre will repeat the featured movie “The King of Kings” for the weekend from April 26 to 28. Showtimes are at 7 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and 4 p.m. on Sundays. There is a concession stand available. Tickets are $5.

Local Lumber in Sherburn will have a Spring Cookout from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 26.

Martin County West (MCW) Prom will be at 7:30 p.m. (doors open at 6:45 p.m.) on Saturday, April 26, at the MCW High School in Sherburn. The theme is ‘Meet Me at Midnight’. A free will donation would be appreciated.

The St. Luke’s Catholic Church will have Sunday Services at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday, April 27. In May, they will go back to their summer schedule of Sunday services at 10:30 a.m. The St. John’s Lutheran Church will have services at 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m., with a voter’s meeting at 9:15 a.m. All area residents are welcome to join these congregations for worship.

The St. John’s Friendship Club will have a get-together for lunch at 11 a.m. on May 5 at the Lake Belt Bar and Grill in Ceylon. Area residents are invited to join them. You do not need to be a member of St. John’s to attend. Enjoy a lunch with some friends.

The FFA will have its State Convention from April 27 to 29. Several MCW FFA members will be attending.

The Sherburn Fire Department Relief Association will have a Pancake Feed from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 27, at the Sherburn Fire Hall, on the north end of town. The cost will be a free will donation.

A Memory Cafe meeting will be at 3 p.m. on Monday, April 28, at the Temperance Lake Ridge. This is a support group for family and caregivers of patients with dementia.

The last Tuesday Coffee Hour from 8:30 to 10 a.m. on Tuesday, April 28, at the Sinn Family Celebration of Life Center. The Tuesday Coffee Hours in May will be at Trinity Lutheran Church in Welcome. Plan to join friends and neighbors for good coffee, goodies, and great fellowship each Tuesday.

The City of Sherburn will have a Clean Up Day at 6 a.m. on May 10 with a curbside pick up for $25 for a 4-by-6 pile for those who purchase a flag by noon on May 2. There will be a free drop-off site behind the City Hall. Contact City Hall for further information, and watch for a list of things accepted by WM. City Hall can be contacted at (507) 764-4491. This would be a good opportunity to get rid of any items that may be considered an ordinance violation.

The American Red Cross blood drives will be on May 15 at Grace Lutheran Church in Fairmont, May 19 at St. Vianney Catholic Church in Fairmont, and May 23 at the LiveFit Gym in Fairmont. The Grades 3 to 6 in Trimont will have a musical concert at 7 p.m. on May 5. Plan now to attend and support our MCW students. The MCW Athletes will be busy filling out April. The baseball and softball teams will meet at 4:30 p.m. at the Welcome Fields on April 24. The track and field teams will meet on April 25 at Wilson Field in Blue Earth. The boys’ and girls’ golf teams will meet at 4:30 p.m. at the Oakview Course in Alden Conger. The softball team will meet USC at 4:30 p.m. in Welcome. The track and field team has an invitational at 4:30 p.m. at Wilson Field in Blue Earth. The girls’ track and field team will meet at 4 p.m. on April 29 at Sherburn’s track. The boys’ track and field team will meet at 4 p.m. on April 29 at the St. James track. The softball and baseball teams will compete with Cleveland at 4:30 p.m. in Welcome. The boys’ and girls’ golf teams will compete at 4:30 p.m. at Mountain Lake that day. Good luck, Mavericks.
