Clean Up Day on May 10
WELCOME — Today, April 18, is Good Friday, and area churches have scheduled special services. The Circle of Faith Parishes will have a joint service at 7 p.m. tonight, April 18, at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Ceylon. That group of churches will have a joint Easter service at 9 a.m. at First Lutheran Church in Trimont. St. Paul’s Community Church in Welcome has an Easter service at 7 a.m., followed by a pancake breakfast. All area residents are welcome to join these congregations for Easter services.
There are some Easter Egg hunts scheduled in the area tomorrow. The Welcome Fire Department will sponsor an Egg Hunt at 10 a.m. at Hansen-Keck Park. Dunnell will have an Egg hunt at 10 a.m. at the City Park. Sherburn’s Egg Hunt is at 9 a.m. at the City Park. Trimont’s Town Center will have an Egg hunt at 10 a.m. sponsored by several businesses. Season’s Healthcare will have an Egg hunt at 1:30 p.m. in Trimont.
Condolences to the family of Hermie Geerdes of Trimont who passed away recently. He will be missed.
An American Red Cross blood drive is today, Friday, April 18, at the Fairmont American Legion at Downtown Plaza. The May blood drives are on May 15 at Grace Lutheran Church in Fairmont, May 19 at St. Vianney Catholic Church in Fairmont, and May 23 at LiveFit Gym in Fairmont. Call (800) RED-CROSS (800-733-2767), go online to www.redcrossblood.org, or text ‘BLOODAPP’ to ‘90999’ to make an appointment or get further information about blood drives near you. Blood is urgently needed now, so give if you can.
Tuesday Coffee Hours will be from 8:30 to 10 a.m. on April 22 and 29 at the Sinn Family Celebration of Life Center in Trimont. Join friends and neighbors for coffee, goodies, and fellowship. May Tuesday Coffee Hours will be at the Trinity Church in Welcome.
The Welcome Clean Up Day will be from 8 to 10 a.m. (or whenever the truck is full) on May 10. Appliances may also be brought to the site behind the Fire Hall. Please get a ticket from the City Hall for appliances. This is for Welcome residents only. Be prepared to show proof of a Welcome address, etc. This is a good free opportunity to cleanse your property of junk that may be an ordinance violation.
Remember the Welcome High School All Class Reunion is planned for 3 p.m. to (?) on July 26 at the Fox Lake Event Center. There are no charges to attend.
