Local Easter eggs hunts planned
SHERBURN — A CREST-sponsored A Lunch-N-Learn program will be at 11 a.m. today, April 16, at First Lutheran Church in Trimont, followed by a light lunch. These programs are free to senior citizens in Martin County. CREST appreciates a free will donation for the lunch.
Hamburger Night will be from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight, April 16, at the Sherburn Legion. The menu includes a burger, salad, and baked beans for only $10.
Two more Tuesday Coffee Hours will be from 8:30 to 10 a.m. in April at the Sinn Family Celebration of Life Center in Trimont. The May coffee hours will be in Welcome. Join friends and neighbors for good coffee and great fellowship.
An American Red Cross blood drive will be on Friday, April 1, at the Legion Hall in the Downtown Plaza in Fairmont. The May blood drives will be on May 15 at Grace Lutheran Church, May 19 at St. Vianney Catholic Church, and May 23 at LiveFit Gym. All locations are in Fairmont. The Sherburn Theatre will present the animated movie “The King of Kings” at 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and at 4 p.m. on Sunday. Good family entertainment on Easter weekend.
Easter is Sunday, April 20, and area churches have special services all week. St. Luke’s Catholic Church will have Good Friday Mass at 3 p.m. and Easter Sunday services at 8 a.m. The members are reminded that they are on the summer schedule for services at 10:30 a.m. Sunday services in May and June. They will have a special 8:30 a.m. on April 27 service for first communion. St. John’s Lutheran Church will have Maundy Thursday and Good Friday services at 6 p.m. Their partner church in Wilbert will have 6:30 p.m. services on those days. On Easter Sunday, St. John’s will have a 7 a.m. and a 9:30 a.m. special service with breakfast from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. Their partner church in Wilbert will have an Easter service at 8 a.m. with a breakfast to follow. The Regional Worship Center in Sherburn will have Easter service at 10 a.m.
Several Easter Egg Hunts will be on Saturday, April 19. The Sherburn Egg Hunt will be at 9 a.m at the park sponsored by the Lions Club. Temperance Lake Ridge will have a 2 p.m. Egg Hunt by the entrance. Dunnell will have an Egg Hunt at 10 a.m. at the City Park, sponsored by the Lions Club. Welcome will have their egg hunt at 10 a.m. at Hansen-Keck Park, sponsored by the Welcome Fire Department. Seasons Healthcare in Trimont will have an Egg Hunt at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, April 18. On April 19, the Town Center will have a hunt at 10 a.m. for grades kindergarten to six, sponsored by several Trimont businesses.
The Martin County West Schools will be closed for spring break from April 18 to 21, but the athletes will be busy before and after that break. The boys’ and girls’ golf teams will meet at 4 p.m. on April 17 in Jackson. The track and field teams will meet at 4:15 p.m. on April 17 at Mountain Lake. Baseball will compete with Loyola at 4:30 p.m. on April 17 at the Welcome Fields. The girls’ golf team will meet for a Tomahawk Tournament at 10 a.m. on April 21 in Freeborn. The boys’ golf team will play at the Fox Lake Course as part of the tournament. The softball team will meet at 4:30 p.m. on April 21 at Mountain Lake. The boys and girls track and field teams will meet on April 22 at Worthington. The baseball team will have a doubleheader at 4:30 and 6:30 p.m. on April 22 at Truman. The boys’ and girls’ golf teams will play at the Rose Lake course on April 22. Good luck, Mavericks.
Ruby’s Pantry will distribute groceries from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Monday, April 21, at the Regional Worship Center parking lot in Sherburn (south of Interstate 90). $25 will fill your trunk with groceries. There are no residential or income guidelines. A partial list is usually on Facebook.
The Mayo Mobile Clinic will be in Sherburn from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on April 21 and 23, each day near the City Hall. Call the appointment number and mention Sherburn Clinic at (507) 238-8500.
