Easter egg hunt on April 19

WELCOME — A bridal shower for Aimee Hand will be from 9 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 12, at Trinity Lutheran Church.

The all-day Community Day Auction and Rummage Sale in Ceylon will be on Saturday, April 12.

The Burn Site in Welcome will be open from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, April 12.

The Lake Promenaders Square Dance group will meet at 6 p.m. on Sunday, April 13, at the Shaw home (804 West First Street) in Welcome. All dancers and watchers are welcome to join them.

The American Red Cross Blood drives will be on April 14 at Sherburn’s Regional Worship Center (south of I-90), April 14 at Martin Luther High School in Northrop, and April 18 at the Legion Hall in Fairmont. Blood is urgently needed, so give if you are eligible. Call (800) RED-CROSS (800-733-2767), go online to www.redcrossblood.org, or text ‘BLOODAPP’ to ‘90999’.

The Welcome Legion will meet at 7 p.m. on April 14 at the Welcome Legion Hall. All members are encouraged to attend.

A Coffee Hour will be from 8:30 to 10 a.m. on Tuesday, April 15, at the Sinn Family Celebration of Life Center in Trimont. Join friends and neighbors for good coffee, goodies, and great fellowship each Tuesday in April.

The Welcome City Council will meet at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, April 15, at City Hall. There is always a time for public comments and questions at the beginning of each meeting without reserving time. To be on the regular agenda, contact the City Hall at (507) 728-8740.

The City reminds Welcome residents that their sump pump should be routed to their lawn or storm sewer now (April to Nov.). As green as the grass is getting, the reminder about mowing grass before it reaches seven inches in height per the ordinance is also timely.

A CREST Lunch and Learn program will be at 11 a.m. on April 16 at First Lutheran Church in Trimont, followed by a lunch. These educational and informative programs are free to senior citizens in Martin County. CREST appreciates a free will donation for the lunch.

Easter is on April 20. Next week is Holy Week in area churches, and most have special services planned. Area residents are welcome to join these congregations for services. The Circle of Faith Parishes will have a joint service at 7 p.m. on Maundy Thursday, April 17, at Waverly Lutheran, north of Welcome. They will have a joint service at 7 p.m. for Good Friday, April 18, at St. Peter Lutheran in Ceylon. (Note: The newsletter calendar is incorrect for these two services.) The Easter service will be at 9 a.m. at the First Lutheran Church in Trimont, which is also a joint service. St. Paul’s Community Church will have an Easter sunrise service at 7 a.m., followed by a pancake breakfast.
