Steak Fry Night this weekend

SHERBURN — An American Red Cross blood drive will be today, Wednesday, April 9, at the Truman Public School. More blood drives will be on April 14 at the Martin Luther High School in Northrop, April 14 at the Regional Worship Center in Sherburn, and April 18 at the Fairmont Legion Hall. The Temperance Lake Ridge facility will have their Easter Egg Hunt at 2 p.m. on April 12.

The Sherburn Legion will have its monthly Steak Fry Night from 6 to 8 p.m. on April 12. The menu includes rib eye, shrimp, smoked pork chop, salad bar, baked potato, and garlic toast for only $20 a person.

The Sherburn Theatre will feature the animated movie “The King of Kings” this weekend (April 11 to April 13) and next weekend (April 18 to April 20), with showtimes at 7 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and at 4 p.m. on Sundays. Sounds like a good Easter treat for the family. Tickets are $5. A concession stand will be available. Shop local.

The Trimont Chamber of Commerce will sponsor a pancake all-you-can-eat fundraiser from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Palm Sunday, April 13, at the Sinn Family Celebration of Life Center in Trimont. The menu includes pancakes, eggs, sausages, and beverages.

Condolences to the families of Genneive Kiecksee and Joan Bettin, who passed away recently. They will be missed by friends and family.

Tuesday Coffee Hours will continue from 8:30 to 10 a.m. in April at the Sinn Family Celebration of Life Center in Trimont. Join friends and neighbors for coffee, goodies, and fellowship.

The Martin County West Schools will be closed for Spring Break from April 18 to April 21. The seniors will be on their trip to Washington from April 13 to April 19 during that break. The athletes will compete before and after the break. The boys’ and girls’ golf teams will compete at 4:15 p.m. tomorrow, April 10, at the St. James Country Club in Madelia. The softball team will compete at 4:30 p.m. tomorrow, April 10, at Cleveland. The boys’ and girls’ golf teams will compete against New Ulm Cathedral at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, April 11, at Fox Lake Course in Sherburn. The baseball and softball teams will compete with the Fulda team at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, April 11, at Heron Lake Ball Field. The softball team will compete with the MVL team at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 12. The track and field teams will meet Maple River at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, April 15. Good luck, Mavericks.

Area churches are planning Holy Week and Easter services. All area residents are welcome to join the churches for the services. Next week is the week before Easter, and St. Luke’s Catholic Church has scheduled special services beginning with a Mass at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, April 13. They will have stations of the cross at 5:30 p.m. and Mass at 6 p.m., followed by supper on Tuesday, April 15. On Maundy Thursday, April 17, the members may attend mass at Good Shepherd in Jackson at 6:30 p.m. St. Luke’s will have a 3 p.m. Mass on Good Friday, and they will meet at 8 a.m. for Mass on Easter Sunday. St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sherburn has scheduled 6 p.m. services on Maundy Thursday and Good Friday. Their Easter services are at 7 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. They will have breakfast from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. The Regional Worship Center in Sherburn will have Easter Services at 10 a.m.
