Library to have craft on April 8
SHERBURN — Well, April has come. Hope you did not have too many April Fools Day pranks pulled on you.
CREST’s free Lunch-N-Learn program will be at 11 a.m. at the Senior Center near the City Hall. A lunch will follow. These interesting and educational programs are free to any senior citizen in Martin County. CREST would appreciate a free will donation for the lunch.
Hamburger Night will be from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight at the Sherburn Legion Hall. The menu includes a burger, salad, and baked beans for $10. The Sherburn Legion meets at 7 p.m. on April 8. The Sherburn Legion will have their Steak Night on April 12.
The Tuesday coffee hours began yesterday and will continue through April from 8:30 to 10 a.m. each Tuesday at the Sinn Family Celebration of Life Center in Trimont. Join friends and neighbors for coffee and fellowship.
The Sherburn Library will have a free wooden egg craft session from 3 to 5 p.m. on April 8. No previous registration is needed, and all supplies will be furnished.
The Mayo Mobile Clinic van will be available from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on April 7 and April 9 near the City Hall in Sherburn. Call the appointment telephone number at (507) 238-8500 and mention Sherburn.
Condolences to the family of Nannette Lang-Nolte from Trimont, who passed away recently. She will be missed by friends and family.
The Regional Worship Center in Sherburn will have City on the Hill Revival meetings at 6:30 p.m. on April 4 and 5 and at the 10 a.m. service and 6 p.m. on April 6. There will be a potluck meal after the 10 a.m. service on Sunday. Area residents are welcome.
St. Luke’s Catholic Church members are reminded that their Sunday Services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. from April to June. They also have Stations of the Cross at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Mass at 6 p.m. followed by a supper. They will have a Mass at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 9. Area residents are welcome.
Lenten mid-week services continue at St. John’s Lutheran Church at 6 p.m., followed by a supper. Their partner church at Wilbert will have a 6:30 service followed by a lunch. Area residents are welcome.
The American Red Cross blood drives will be on April 9 at Truman High School, April 14 at Martin Luther High School in Northrop, April 14 at the Regional Worship Center just south of I-90 in Sherburn, and April 18 at the Legion Hall in Fairmont. Congratulations to the six juniors and two seniors from Martin County West who were inducted into the Martin County West Honor Society. The students are Jocelyn Schmidtke, Hayden O’Connor, Katelynn Kennedy, Emily Schettler, Addison Wohlhuter, Brenan Ringnell and Ava Thate.
The MCW Spring Play will be performed at 7 p.m. on April 4 and 5 and at 1 p.m. on April 6 at the Sherburn Theatre. The title of the mystery/comedy play is “This Murder Was Staged”. Tickets are $7 for adults, $5 for students, and free for children in pre-kindergarten. Support the local students and attend the play.
The MCW athletes are busy with spring sports. The robotics team will compete today and tomorrow at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities.
The track and field team will compete at 4:15 p.m. on April 3 in Mountain Lake. The baseball and softball teams will compete at 4:30 p.m. on April 3 at the Welcome fields. The boys’ and girls’ golf teams will compete with Alden/Conger at 4:30 p.m. on April 3 at Oak View Course. The baseball team will play at 4:30 p.m. on April 4 at Mountain Lake. The track and field teams will compete on April 7 at Sleepy Eye. The Baseball team will compete on April 7 at Madelia. The softball team will compete with Minnesota Valley Lutheran at 4:30 p.m. on April 7 in New Ulm. The boys’ and girls’ track and field teams will compete at an invitational at 4 p.m. on April 8 in St. James. The boys’ and girls’ golf teams will compete on April 8 at the Fox Lake Course. In upcoming events at MCW, the Senior Class Trip is from April 13 to April 19. The Prom will be on April 26. Good luck to the Mavericks.
