WELCOME — An American Red Cross blood drive is today at the LiveFit Gym in Fairmont. In April, blood drives will be on April 9 at Truman High School, April 14 at the Regional Worship Center in Sherburn, April 14 at Martin Luther High School in Northrop, and April 18 at the Legion Hall in Fairmont. To make an appointment or find blood drive locations and times in your area, call (800) RED-CROSS (800-733-2767), go online to www.redcrossblood.org, or text ‘BLOODAPP’ to ‘90999’. Blood is urgently needed, so donate blood if you can.
Condolences to the families of Susan Hinz, Joyce Grev and Eileen Morrow, who passed away recently. Eileen will be remembered for her work with the Welcome Legion. They will all be missed by family and friends.
The Welcome Historical Society Museum will be open from 2 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 5, the first Saturday of the month. There are hundreds of items on two floors. There is a 1930s kitchen, many photos that date back to 1890, and new veterans and school displays. Check out the Welcome History at the museum. Contact Vicki Nelsen at (507) 236-7081 for further information or to make an appointment if the first Saturday is not in your plan.
Lenten services continue in the area churches. St. Paul’s Community Church will have Bible Study and lunch at 6 p.m. on Tuesday evening. The Circle of Faith Parishes meet at 6 p.m. for supper and 7 p.m. for services each Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Welcome. The Circle of Faith Parishes will switch to their April schedule of services, which has 9 a.m. services at Waverly Lutheran Church, north of Welcome, and 10:30 a.m. services at St.Peter Lutheran Church in Ceylon.
The Tuesday Coffee Hours will be from 8:30 to 10 a.m. on Tuesday, April 1 (and each Tuesday) at the Sinn Family Celebration of Life Center in Trimont. Join friends and neighbors for coffee, goodies and great fellowship.
The Welcome City Council will meet at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, April 1, at the City Hall. Public comments and questions will be accepted at the beginning of each meeting. To be on the regular agenda, please contact the Clerk at City Hall before the meeting date at (507) 728-8740. The agenda will include the second reading of the ordinance about raising chickens within the City limits.
The Heaven’s Table Food Shelf will distribute food to families and individuals in Welcome who are in need. To be on the list, call (507) 238-5424, email heavenstable@gmail.com, or ask the City Clerk. When the pick-up date and location are known, individuals on the list will be notified. This is a new list. If you were on the list when Deb was City Clerk, you must ask to be on the list again. Thanks to Heaven’s Table Food Shelf for this service to Welcome.
I think finding signs of Spring has worked since there was rain this week instead of snow. Keep up the good work of noticing signs of spring, and don’t be fooled next Tuesday, April 1.
