MCW school play next weekend
SHERBURN — Lenten Services continue in area churches. The St. John’s Lutheran Church has Wednesday services at 6 p.m. with a supper following. Their partner, St. Paul’s in Wilbert, has 6:30 p.m. services with a cooperative lunch following. St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Sherburn has a mass at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesdays and Stations of the Cross at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesdays with Mass at 6 p.m. followed by supper. They have Mass at 5 p.m. on Saturdays. Their summer schedule for Sunday morning services begins with services at 10:30 a.m. from April to June. The Regional Worship Center will have City on the Hill Revival Services at 6:30 p.m. on April 4 and 5 and at 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Sunday, April 6, with a potluck meal after the 10 a.m. service. Area residents are welcome to join any of these area churches’ services.
Congratulations to the Martin County West athletes chosen for the Tomahawk Conference All-Conference team. The girl’s basketball athletes are Emily Anderson, Maddie Carlson and honorable mention Avery Sanders. The boy’s basketball athletes are Jacob Wilmes and honorable mention Kale Larson. The Red Bulls Wrestling athletes chosen for All Big South Conference team are Pierce Rohman, Terry Paplow, Maddex Faber, Ty Kolbe, and Kate Kolbe from the girl’s section. Spring sports: softball, baseball, track and field, golf, and trap shooting start now. Good luck, Mavericks. A baseball scrimmage will be tomorrow. An indoor track meet will be at 5:30 p.m. on March 31 in Mankato. The Robotics Team will compete on April 2 and 3 at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities. The MCW Schools will be dismissing early at 12:15 p.m. on Friday.
Condolences to the family of Julie Cass, who passed away recently. She will be missed by family and friends.
CREST’s Lunch-N-Learn program will be at 11 a.m. on April 2 at the Senior Center near the City Hall in Sherburn. A lunch will follow. These educational and interesting programs are free for senior citizens in Martin County. CREST appreciates a free will donation for the lunch. Plan to attend.
Hamburger Night will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on April 2 at the Sherburn Legion Hall. Get a burger, fixings, salad, and baked beans for only $10. What a delicious deal.
The Sherburn Theatre will show the movie “The Unbreakable Boy” again this weekend, with show times at 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and at 4 p.m. on Sunday. The theatre plans to show “King of Kings” later in April. The MCW School Play will be performed at the theatre at 7 p.m. on April 4 and 5, and 1 p.m. on April 6.
The Sherburn Lions Club will meet at 7 p.m. on April 7 at the Sherburn Legion Hall. The Sherburn Civic and Commerce Club will meet at 5:30 p.m. on April 1 at the Senior Center. CREST will have a Caregiver Support Group meeting at 10 a.m. on April 7 at the Sinn Celebration of Life Center in Trimont (note the new location).
The Friendship Club from St. John’s Lutheran Church will meet for lunch and fellowship at 11 a.m. on April 7 at The Still Bar and Grill in Dunnell. Area residents are welcome to join them. The LWML -Lutheran Women’s Missionary League Blue Earth Zone will have a mission gathering-rally on April 8 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sherburn. A meal will be at 5 p.m. followed by a 6 p.m. meeting. The speaker will be Jeffrey Burkardt from Concordia University in St. Paul. He will speak about hymns and women hymn writers. The gifts from the heart collection will be for the Women’s Recovery House in Sherburn. Area women are welcome to join them.
The American Red Cross blood drives continue on March 28 at the LiveFit Gym in Fairmont, April 14 at the Regional Worship Center in Sherburn, April 14 at Martin Luther High School in Northrop, and April 18 at the Fairmont Legion Hall.
