Sherburn City Council meets next week

SHERBURN — The St. John’s Ladies group, LWML, will meet at 2 p.m. today. All members are encouraged to attend. St. John’s Lutheran Church will have a service at 6 p.m. today, followed by a meal. Their partner church, St. Paul’s Lutheran in Wilbert, will have a 6:30 p.m. service followed by a cooperative lunch. St. Luke’s Catholic Church has a midweek Lenten Mass at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesdays. The Stations of the Cross are scheduled for 5:30 p.m. on Tuesdays, with Mass at 6 p.m., followed by a supper. Area residents are welcome to join these churches’ events.

Condolences to the families of Dixie Crissinger and Nancy Smith, who passed away recently. They will be missed.

The Sherburn City Council will meet at 5 p.m. on March 17 at City Hall. Public comments and questions will be accepted at the beginning of each meeting. To be on the regular agenda, contact the City Hall in person or at (507) 764-4491.

The Martin County West School Board will meet at 6:30 p.m. on March 17 in the board room at the Sherburn Elementary School. To be on their agenda, contact the school.

Ruby’s Pantry grocery distribution will be from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on March 17 at the Regional Worship Center in Sherburn, south of Interstate 90. A trunkful of groceries is $25. There are no residential or income guidelines.

CREST’s Lunch and Learn program and a light meal will be at 11 a.m. on March 19 at First Lutheran Church in Trimont. These programs are free to senior citizens in Martin County. CREST appreciates a free-will donation for the meal.

The American Red Cross blood drives will be on March 17 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Fairmont and March 28 at the LiveFit Gym in Fairmont. Congratulations to Adel Simmons, who will turn 100 years old. An open house celebration will be from 2 to 4:30 p.m. on March 29 at the Sherburn Legion. Our wish is for more birthdays, Adel.

The Sherburn Theatre may show a movie, “The Unbreakable Boy”, this weekend. Showtimes are 7 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and 4 p.m. on Sundays. Check their Facebook post.

The Sherburn Boy Scouts will have a Fish Fry from 5 to 8 p.m. on March 21 at the Sherburn Legion Hall. Plan to attend.

The Martin County West spring sports seasons will begin in March. The prom is scheduled for April 26. CER will have Preschool Open House meetings from 5 to 6:30 p.m. on March 20 at the Sherburn Elementary School and the Trimont School. The Kindergarten Roundup Open House will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on March 27 at the Sherburn Elementary School. Check out the information in the school newsletter or contact the school.

The St. John’s Lutheran Church’s Friendship Club will meet at 11 a.m. on April 7 at the STILL in Dunnell. All area residents are welcome to join them for food and fellowship. The club usually meets on the first Monday of each month.
