Ash Wednesday services tonight
SHERBURN — CREST’s Lunch and Learn Program will present a program about hoarding at 11 a.m. today at the Sherburn Senior Center near the City Hall. A light lunch of seafood hotdish and St. Patrick’s Day dessert will follow the program. These programs are free to any senior citizen in Martin County. CREST appreciates a free-will donation for the lunch.
The Sherburn Legion will host Hamburger Night from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight at the Legion Hall. They will also have a Steak Night from 5 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, March 8, at the Legion Hall. The Legion group’s monthly meeting will be at 7 p.m. on March 11.
Today is also Ash Wednesday-the beginning of the Lenten Season. Area churches have scheduled services and welcome any area resident to join them. St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sherburn will have services at 6 p.m. followed by a supper. Their partner church, St. Paul’s in Wilbert, will have services at 6:30 p.m. followed by a cooperative lunch. These churches will have midweek Lenten services at these same times on Wednesdays in Lent. St. John’s Lutheran Church will have a special Make a Difference Day from 9:15 to 10:15 a.m. on Sunday, March 9 (between their 8 and 10:30 a.m. Services). People of all ages are encouraged to do service projects and enjoy fellowship and treats.
The Regional Worship Center in Sherburn will have a Movie Night at 5 p.m. on March 9, featuring the Christian movie “The Forge”. There will be a concession stand available. Proceeds will go towards the Men’s Ministry and the Next Gen Kids camp.
The Martin County West Schools will not have school on March 7 because of a Teacher’s Workshop. The Knowledge Bowl will have an MCW Trivia Night from 4 to 10 p.m. on March 8 in the high school gym. Good luck to all the Mavericks playing in State tournaments and playoffs.

Tuesday Coffee Hours will be the same as last year and begin in April at the Sinn Family Center in Trimont.

The American Red Cross blood drives will be held on March 17 at St. Vianney Catholic Church in Fairmont and March 28 at the Live Fit Gym in Fairmont. Blood drives for Trimont and Sherburn have been scheduled three times a year so donors can stay on the 56-day schedule and give locally. The next blood drive in Sherburn will be on April 14.
