Truman shooting suspect apprehended
TRUMAN– Over the weekend the suspect in a shooting incident that took place on Thursday, Feb. 27 in Truman was apprehended.
Deputy Matt Owens of the Martin County Sheriff’s Office said that there was a lot of effort put into tracking where Kyle Jonathan Liford was. Liford had been accused of shooting a woman in the chest with a pistol during a domestic disturbance Thursday evening in Truman.
“Over the weekend he was down in Kossuth County and we were tracking him down there, working with Kossuth County to get him located and apprehended,” Owens said. “As we were working on a search warrant to get him down there information came in that he was in Truman and we ended up finding him and he was arrested without incident.”
Owens said that Liford is currently in jail waiting to go forth before a judge to be sentenced.
“The other agencies were great to work with. They volunteered to work with us and it was great that so many agencies helped us,” Owens said.
He said that the Martin County Sheriff’s Office wanted to share the news of Liford’s apprehension as soon as possible with the public. News of the capture was posted on the Martin County Sheriff’s Office’s Facebook page on Sunday evening.
