SHERBURN – The Martin County West Mavericks secured a victory over Alden-Conger/Glenville Emmons in the opening round of the Section 2A boys basketball playoffs Friday night.

Leading the Mavericks was Jacob Wilmes with 28 points and six rebounds, while Josh Roben had 11 points and 11 rebounds. Lucas Larson had 10 points while Jeremiah Olson had 9 points.

The Mavericks head to BOLD for the quarterfinal round at 7 p.m. on Tuesday.

TRUMAN – The Granada-Huntley East Chain/Truman/Martin Luther Jaguars fell to Mountain Lake Area in the opening round of the Section 2A boys basketball playoffs Friday night.

Leading the Jaguars was Carson Hastad with 15 points, while Brody Grathwohl had 12 points and 11 rebounds. Jackson Madsen had 11 points and eight rebounds, while Bryce Borkenhagen had 6 points and six rebounds.
