WELCOME — The Red Cross Blood drives will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. today, Friday, Feb. 21, at the American Legion in downtown Fairmont. A blood drive will be from noon to 6 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 24 at the St. Paul’s Community Church. There will be a blood drive from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 25 at Grace Lutheran Church in Fairmont. Blood is urgently needed now so give it if you are able.

Due to the frigid weather, the Ruby’s Pantry grocery distribution originally scheduled on Feb. 17 has been postponed to 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Feb. 24 at the Regional Worship Center Parking Lot in Sherburn.

The Lake Promenaders Square Dance group will meet at 6 p.m. on Sunday at the Shaw home at 804 West First Street in Welcome. Dancers and watchers are welcome to join the fun.

Condolences to the families of David Worden Sr., Agnes Sandberg from Trimont, Darin Brockman and Deb Hansen. They will all be missed by family and friends. Deb will be remembered by many because she was the City Clerk for 17 years. Gone too soon.

This coming week is the last week of February. Gear up for March. Hopefully, the weather will be milder. But as the saying goes, ‘It may be March but it is also Minnesota’. Maybe I should start my signs of Spring observations. The daylight savings time change begins on March 9. Ash Wednesday is March 5, the beginning of the Lenten season. The Burn Site is scheduled to be open from 6 to 8 p.m. on March. 5.
