TRUMAN — The month of February is School Board Recognition Month. This time is meant to recognize the contributions made by our school board members to our school district. They spend countless hours attending monthly meetings; listening to ideas from parents, staff, students, and community members; learning about educational issues; and participating in training opportunities. The Truman Lions Club Burger Bash will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 15, at the Truman Community Building. Enjoy a fresh burger, beans, condiments, chips and a beverage. To-go is also available.

FFA week is from Feb. 15 to Feb. 22. On Friday, Feb. 21, wear blue to show your FFA pride on National Wear Blue Day at work or school. FFA makes a positive difference in the lives of students and agriculture.

The Lewisville Legion Auxiliary will serve a chicken supper from 5 pm to 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 16.

Presidents Day is on Monday, Feb. 17. All government offices will be closed.

Truman Public Schools will not have school on Monday, Feb. 17.

Truman City Council will meet at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 17 at the Truman Municipal Building. The change of date is due to Presidents Day.

The GIFT kids are doing a service project for Truman during February and March. They are collecting change (quarters, dimes, etc.) in pill bottles to help with expenses at the swimming pool. Paper money and checks made out to Trinity Gift are also welcome. They appreciate any contributions. Give them to Ashley Parish and Cathy Sorenson, or drop them off at City Hall.
