Fairmont takes first at Loyola tournament

FAIRMONT — Twenty-one members of the Fairmont Speech Team competed at the

‘Crusader Classic’ Speech Tournament on Saturday, Feb. 8 at Loyola Catholic School in Mankato.

Fairmont took First Place in the team sweepstakes with 110 points. Mankato West took Second Place with 90 points. Mankato East took Third Place with 62 points.

Varsity Individual Results:

Senior Zoey Tasseff took Third place in Creative Expression.

Senior Grace Simpson was the Champion in Dramatic Interpretation.

Seniors Grace Simpson and Oliver Thedens were the Champions in Duo Interpretation.

Sophomore Annie Reyelts and Freshman Evan Reyelts took Fifth Place in Duo Interpretation.

Senior Oliver Thedens was the Champion in Extemporaneous Reading.

Senior Dominick Lund-May was the Champion in Extemporaneous Speaking.

Senior Isaac Thomas took Fourth Place in Extemporaneous Speaking.

Junior Levi Loughmiller took Sixth Place in Extemporaneous Speaking.

Sophomore Leon Yang was the Champion in Humorous Interpretation.

Senior Isaac Thomas took Fourth Place in Humorous Interpretation.

Freshman Bella Coan took Sixth Place in Informative Speaking.

Senior Alayna Haefner was the Champion in Original Oratory.

Junior Cooper Gudahl took Second Place in Prose.

Novice Individual Results:

Freshman Evan Reyelts was the Champion in Humorous Interpretation.

Seventh Grader Collin Reyelts took Sixth Place.

Seventh Grader Addie Lintelman took Fourth Place in Original Oratory.

Eighth Grader Reyna Juhl took Second Place in Prose.

The Fairmont Speech Team competes on Saturday, Feb. 15 at Mankato West. The team is coached by Kathleen Walker, Erik Walker and Miles Duffey.
