Welcome Fire Dept. fundraiser Feb. 8
WELCOME — The burn site will be open from 8 a.m. to noon tomorrow, Feb. 8. Wood that is six inches in diameter or smaller is permitted. Large pieces of wood are prohibited.
The Cribbage Tournament will begin with registration at 1:15 p.m. tomorrow, Feb. 8, at the Welcome Legion Hall. All area Cribbage players are welcome to join. An additional Cribbage Tournament will be on Feb. 15.
The Circle of Faith Parishes are in the February schedule. The schedule has 9 a.m. Worship at Waverly Lutheran Church (north of Welcome) and 10:30 a.m. Worship at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Ceylon. All area residents are welcome to join them for services.
A Pancake Breakfast will be from 8 a.m. to noon on Sunday, Feb. 9 at the Welcome Legion Hall to raise funds for the Welcome Fire Department Relief Association. The menu includes pancakes, sausage, fried potatoes and coffee. A free-will donation is encouraged in place of cost. If unable to attend, but would like to help by a donation or you are writing a check for the donation, write the check to the Fire Department Relief Association. Donations can be mailed to Box 373, Welcome Minn. 56181. Thank you for your generosity.
The Lake Promenaders Square Dance group will meet at 6 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 9 at the Shaw home at 804 West First Street in Welcome. Dancers and watchers are welcome.
The Welcome Legion will meet at 7 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 10 at the Legion Hall. All members are encouraged to attend.
The Red Cross Blood Drives will be on Feb. 10 at the Sinn Family Celebration of Life Center in Trimont, on Feb. 11 and 12 at the Best Western Hotel in Fairmont, on Feb. 21 at the American Legion in Fairmont, on Feb. 24 at the St. Paul’s Community Church in Welcome and on Feb. 25 at Grace Lutheran Church in Fairmont. Blood is urgently needed now so give it if you are able.
The Martin County West School Board is meeting at 5:30 p.m. on Feb. 11 in the board room at Sherburn Elementary School. The initial date has been changed in observance of President’s Day on Feb. 17. There will be no school for the holiday.
The Ruby’s Pantry Grocery Distribution is scheduled for 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Feb. 17 at the parking lot of the Regional Worship Center in Sherburn, just south of I-90. $25 will buy a trunk full of groceries. There are no residential or income guidelines.
In the upcoming news, next Friday is Valentine’s Day. The Ceylon Fire Department will have a Pancake Brunch Fundraiser from 9 to noon on Sunday, Feb. 16.
