Theater to show ‘Dogman’ this weekend

SHERBURN — A Red Cross Blood Drive will be from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. today at Martin County West in Sherburn. A drive will be from 1 to 6 p.m. on Feb. 10 at Sinn Family Celebration of Life Center. A drive will be from 12:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Feb. 11 and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Feb. 12 at the Best Western Hotel in Fairmont. Watch for a blood drive on Feb. 21 at the American Legion in Fairmont, on Feb. 24 at St. Paul’s Community Church in Welcome and on Feb. 25 at Grace Lutheran Church in Fairmont. Blood is urgently needed now.

Condolences to the families of Sherri “Cherylinn” Jose, Diann Bloomquist, and Darrell Worthley who passed away recently. They will be missed by family and friends.

The Friendship Club from St. John’s Lutheran Church invites area residents to join them at 11:30 a.m. on Feb. 3 at Pizza Ranch in Fairmont for food fun and fellowship. There is a Care Giver Support group meeting at 10 a.m. on Feb. 3 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Trimont sponsored by CREST. The Sherburn City Council will meet at 5 p.m. on Feb. 3. The Martin County West School Board will meet at 5:30 p.m. on Feb. 3.

St. John’s Lutheran Youth group will close its pastry sales on Feb. 2. The Church has a team to do the Kids Against Hunger bag fills from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Feb. 8 at the Fairmont Armory. Contact the Church if interested. Their services are at 8 and 10:30 a.m. on Sundays.

The Regional Worship Center has services at 10 a.m. on Sunday mornings And a meal and Bible Classes on Wednesday evenings. They are planning a Spaghetti Fundraiser meal on Feb. 9 after the 10 a.m. service to raise funds for their Men’s Ministry events.

St. Luke’s Catholic Church has services at 5 p.m. on Saturday and mass at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday. These area churches welcome area residents to join them.

The Sherburn Theatre will show the film “Dogman” this weekend with showtimes at 7 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and at 4 p.m. on Sundays.

The Sherburn Legion will have Hamburger Night on Feb. 5. A Lunch-N-Learn program will be on Feb. 5 at the Sherburn Senior Center. Mark your calendars and plan to attend.

This weekend and Feb. are busy times for the athletes and students at Martin County West too. The Gymnastics team will travel for a meet at 6 p.m. Jan. 30 at St. James.

The Girls’ Basketball team will battle Sleepy Eye at 7 p.m. on Jan. 30 at the Trimont gym.

The Boys’ Basketball will battle Madelia at 7 p.m. on Jan. 30 at the Sherburn gym. The Girls Hockey team will battle Rochester Mayo at 7 p.m. on Jan. 30 at Rochester Graham Arena. There will be a Knowledge Bowl on Jan. 31 at Mankato Loyola–start time to be determined.

The Boys Hockey team will battle Redwood Valley at 7 p.m. on Jan. 31 at the Fairmont Arena.

There will be a wrestling tournament against Maple River at 9 a.m. on Feb. 1 at Maple River High School. The Boys’ Hockey team will battle Windom Area at 5 p.m. on Feb. 1 at Windom Arena. The Girls’ Basketball team will have a Conference game against Madelia. at 7 p.m. on Feb. 3 at the Trimont gym. The Gymnastics team will battle Luverne at 6 p.m. at the Live Fit Gym in Fairmont. The Girls’ Basketball team will battle Blue Earth Area at 7 p.m. at the Trimont gym. The Boys Hockey will battle Faribault at 7 p.m. at the Fairmont Arena. The Boys’ Basketball team battles Cleveland at 7 p.m. in Cleveland. Good Luck Mavericks.
